flowerchild Posted April 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Since the rental phones seem to be no longer available, what would be the most efficient and economical way to keep in touch with a teen while on board? We all have smart phones, how would texting work while on the ship? Thanks for any responses!
Clarea Posted April 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2016 If you bought the ship's WiFi package for all the phones, you could use an internet texting app, such as iMessage or WhatsApp. If you anticipate only a few texts and won't be purchasing a WiFi package, then you could pay by the text, for $0.50 per text sent. nativetexan Posted April 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2016 In the past - we've asked our teens to check in with us at specific times. We're always in 1 of 3 places on the ship so we're pretty predictable. We have a general idea of where they will be based on the published activities. We haven't had a problem in the past. Certainly depends on your teen and their age. Enjoy your cruise.

We usually do this, we say meet at windjammer at 1 or meet at poolside at 3 or something like that. then back at staterooms before dinner and plan out the night
breeze123 Posted April 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2016 We purchase the wifi and use the free messaging. It works pretty well.
Jadu4ever9 Posted April 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2016 We've used mini walkie-talkies in the past and it works like a charm! But if those aren't available, we typically look at eachother's planned schedules and set a time/place to meet up.
WeBCruisin Posted April 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2016 This is the first time we have cruised that our boys wont be in adventure ocean. We plan on purchasing VOOM for the trip to help us keep track of one another. We are on Allure which is considerably larger than the previous ships we've cruised on - so we are concerned that it wouldn't be as easy or as quick to locate each other.
