travelnut1967 Posted April 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2016 We are looking at booking the Jade next year for a Norway trip. We looked at the rooms and The Haven popped up and my wife became very interested . We have cruised DCL concierge before and she loved it. What does the Haven offer more than a suite? Is there a restaurant in the Haven on the Jade? Thanks
Demonyte Posted April 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Only new megaships (Epic and newer) have extra Haven amenities like private restaurant and lounge. On Jade only difference between the amenities of full suites (category codes starting with S) and Haven suites (category codes starting with H) is the access to the Haven outdoor area. All suite passengers can enjoy private breakfast and lunch in a dedicated VIP restaurant (one of the regular speciality restaurants, that's why there is no VIP dinner available). Personally I'm just fine without access to Haven, have sailed four times on Jade, three of those in a non-Haven suite and one in a mini-suite (no perks). kdzkatz Posted April 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2016 The Haven rooms on the Jewel class ships offer the "cruise within a cruise" feel that you can only get in the Haven. You forget you are on a large cruise ship when you are up there. Then you go to the lower decks and it's almost like going from a small town to the big city. IMO the regular suites are still amazing but you don't get the intimacy of the Haven.
arlodog Posted April 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2016 We sailed in a Penthouse suite in January on the Jade. Many of the perks that people rave about were not available (at least for us) on a small ship. We didn't have preferential seating for shows. We were told that specialty dining was booked and not available at prime times; but they would try and accommodate if we really wanted to eat in a specialty restaurant. In hindsight, everything we asked the concierge about was not available. We even requested the specialty memory foam pillows and were told they didn't have any. We didn't have a Haven room, but still felt that the extra cost wasn't justified. We were not impressed enough with the value of the suite to book another. We are sailing next month in a balcony on Pearl!
