riclop Posted May 15, 2016 #51 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Well here I am, probably the most excited I've been for years about going on a brand new ship. But my roll call thread is the most dull and uninspiring that I've ever seen on CC. It's the biggest feat of engineering in the world, yet no one seems to be interested at all. Has anyone else had threads like this ? We do not worry about roll calls, we simply do our own thing. So do we ....... always...... but sometimes it's nice to put a name to a face. We don't share trips with other people.
Grandma Petania Posted May 15, 2016 #53 Share Posted May 15, 2016 For the zip line, you have to have someone else hold your glasses, or you need to wear a band to hold them to your head. Must wear closed toe shoes. I did the zip line on my first Oasis cruise, but won't give up luggage space for my size 11 walking shoes again, since I wear sandals the rest of the cruise. Save time and fill out the waiver online before you go. Rock climbing and ice skating also require a waiver. (You can do them all on one page per person.). Ice skating requires long pants. emerald444 Posted May 15, 2016 #55 Share Posted May 15, 2016 That's the part i am wondering about. How are they gonna work that? Your sea pass card will have a colored sticker on it representing which port you embarked on.There will be an announcement saying all passengers embarking today please go to the Muster station really not a big deal! Nado44 Posted May 16, 2016 #56 Share Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks for posting the information re: interporting. I was not aware of that practice. We are on the 24 July cruise from Barcelona. No roll call exists. But we'll look for the ones prior to and after from Rome.
Pmorton3360 Posted May 16, 2016 #57 Share Posted May 16, 2016 There is one but very small. The one before from Rome will be with you.
Amtrac Posted May 16, 2016 #58 Share Posted May 16, 2016 AGREE! I hate Civitavecchia, it's a mess. The train station is also a headache if you are moving around with luggage. Just got off Jewel TA and into a van transfer. It was the quickest and smoothest departure we have ever experienced! Absolutely no wait But there were a lot of people waiting to get on. m1celt Posted May 17, 2016 #62 Share Posted May 17, 2016 My husband and I were on the Allure in the Mediterranean last fall and we also had a very slow roll call. I usually don't participate but I do take a look at them before we sail. I thought it might be because we were embarking in Rome instead of Barcelona but once we got on the ship we realized the probable cause. There just weren't that many English speaking guests on the ship compared to when it sails in the Caribbean. There were, not surprisingly, many Europeans. There was also a large number of Chinese tourists on the ship. I would say the Europeans were there for the ship but the Chinese were there for the ports. The Windjammer was packed every morning with Chinese families getting ready for their day of touring. This could have just been on our cruise or maybe it is now a common occurrence.Unfortunately I couldn't spend weeks on the ship finding out. :) I'm sure you'll have a great time on Harmony - she looks spectacular. Lumpyguy1 Posted May 17, 2016 Author #63 Share Posted May 17, 2016 I actually think this is the main problem. There will be a lot of Spanish people onboard.
Lumpyguy1 Posted May 17, 2016 Author #64 Share Posted May 17, 2016 As long as we have sunshine, a casino, beer and loads to do, I'll be fine. I'm there for the ship. Not the places. I've done Rome and Pisa. Not bothered about Naples or Marseilles. And we're going on the beach bus at majorca. The ship is more important than the destinations. They'll always be there. The ship won't. This is the most amazing new ship ever built. And people should enjoy it 😊 Unless you've done oasis class before, and it's just old hat lol. bogofman Posted May 17, 2016 #65 Share Posted May 17, 2016 Thanks Bob,Hmm I'd best get on the zip line as early in the day as possible reading point 5 :D. Claustrophobia? I thought ziplines were openair! Surely it should be agoraphobia and acrophobia This is a zip line we did this during the winter in ski boots
hexdragon Posted May 17, 2016 #66 Share Posted May 17, 2016 The ship is more important than the destinations. They'll always be there. The ship won't. No way Dude! I am the exact opposite. I just want a half way decent ship / line. The ports are what "floats my boat". And as far as the destinations always being there, Global Warming... In the future, you are gonna need scuba gear to see Saint Marks Square in Venice.. :(

Particularly the Grand Suites. :D Trying to find our room...counting up from the life boats. What deck are the lifeboats on?
