weston gal Posted May 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2016 We have been to Nassau many times. My husband relies on a wheelchair now and can only walk limited distances. I would love to go to the beach, but don't want to go for a day pass, just an hour or two. If we took a taxi or walked to Junkanoo Beach, how would It work out with the wheelchair. I thought we might go to Paradise Island by water taxi, but I read that it could be tricky for him. We haven't been to Freeport in a number of years. Any suggestions as to what we might do there would be appreciated. We are on the Carnival Conquest 7-7-16.
jofo120 Posted May 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2016 I am also wondering. We will be in Nassau in July on Norweigan Gem & traveling with my adult child in a wheelchair. Anyone know?
vickila Posted May 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2016 The taxis in Nassau are to my knowledge all vans or SUV types with seats all the way to the back. Thus no room for wheelchairs or scooters. At the taxi dispatch, just outside the vendor area years ago, an accessible van was called for my scooter. Ever since I have been using them whenever we are in Anassau. Gerard B. Lewis. He has various sizes of accessible transportation. His email is Gerardblewis@hotmail.com Email him beforehand to get an idea of pricing. Putterdude Posted May 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2016 A few years ago we shared a van cab in Nassau with 2 other couples. There was plenty of room for Dudette's folded wheelchair in the back. The driver's name was Hilgrove Hall and he called himself "Sir Speedy". You should be able to reach him thru his daughter at: Bianca.hall@hotmail.com
