Regal - Tender Process?

All the ships are essentially the same.

There will be a time posted in the Patter (the daily newsletter) with the expected time of arrival. So you'll know more or less how early to get up and get breakfast.

There will be an overhead announcement when tendering is getting ready to start telling you which deck to go to and what time to expect tendering to open. They will also announce where to go for tender tickets. The announcements can't be heard in the cabin unless you have your TV turned to the "ship cam" station. Each person has to have a ticket and it must be picked up personally. You will wait in that room (usually) until your ticket # is called. Then go get in line.

This changes slightly once you get to Elite level. You no longer need a ticket, you just go get in the back of the line.

If you aren't in a hurry and wait until the "mad" rush is over, you don't need a ticket.

Wondering how the tender process works on the Regal? Do we need to be early to ensure that we get off the boat at our ports (Grand Cayman, Princess Cays) at a decent time?

It depends on your definition of "decent" time. Generally, you will need to be in line early if you want to be on one of the early tenders.

On the Royal this past February, everyone had to go to one particular dining room and get a ticket and wait to be called for the tender. The Elites also had to go to the dining room and check in and wait. The Elites didn’t get a ticket and were allowed to board with the next tender group, but they had to wait with the group for the announcement.

On the Emerald in March everything you mentioned was how it workedrfor us....there was a line to get into the MDR. Asked one of the crew if I had to stand on the line....Myself and another Elite member were directed to enter. When the next tender was ready, A call was made for Elite members--4 of us--followed by the current number. Nice and orderly.....less han 10 minutes to board.

If you are going as a group, or even two, the entire group has to show up at the same time to receive the tender tickets. One person can not pick up the tender tickets for all. It's one person, one tender ticket.

On the Royal the tender pick up location was the deck 5 DR. For Princess Cays passengers seemed to arrive early to enable boarding of the first tenders over to the beach. Later in the morning there is usually no wait.

If you have a Princess tour in Grand Cayman, the meeting location will be on the ship, normally the theater, and a staff member will lead the tour group to the tender.

That's interesting.

I wonder if they'll start doing that on all the ships.

Sounds more efficient. It could keep Elites who don't understand the rules from charging to the front of the line waving their black card.

You mean I am not supposed to knock people out of the way during my drive to the front of the line?

Thats funny :) thanks for the chuckle and memory.....

In Fll. Once had a lady attempt to brush by me in the 'Priority' line--only about 10 in line. She said , ' I Need to Get By, Im ELITE' When informed' We're ALL ELITE in this line. The 'Im NOT going to be FIRST in Line' look she had----'PRICELESS' :p

Since you will need to get a ticket and wait for that group to be called, it will be a good idea to get to the place where the tickets are given out early. In the patter they will tell you where this is and when they will start. Note that all members of your party must be present to get a ticket. They will not give one person several tickets for others "on their way". You will have to wait in that room until your number is called. No announcements around the ship, just in that one room

Does anyone know how the tenders work with people in scooters? My sister and I are cruising on the Regal in October to NE/Canada and a couple of our ports are tender ports. This is our first Princess cruise and our first cruise where we have to use tenders. She uses a collapsible scooter (not one of those big rental ones) and can walk and do steps (she does walk with a cane full time).

She should be fine. There will be attendants that will help her step on. They will help with getting the scooter on too. No worries.

What if you do an excursion on your own, not thru the cruise...and have to meet at a certain time...what are the chances of getting off the ship by that time...

The Patter for that day will list the time and place that tender tickets will be handed out.

To be on one of the first tenders, be on line 15-20 minutes before the listed time.

  • 3 months later...

Once tendering starts and if you don't have any particular time to go into port, can you get a tender at any time? Or are there specific times. I have a few ports with no excursions planned, so can I get a tender at my leisure?

You can get a tender going to port at your leisure. But be mindful of how long you want to be in port in relation to the last tender going back to ship.

Hello all,

We have never had to Tender before. My question is if you have an excursion scheduled through Princess does that help you get an earlier tender or does it not matter? Just curious as I said we have never had to tender and in Newport we Anchor at 7 am and our excursion is at 8:30 am. I am just wondering if we have to hurry or if this sound like it will be ok.

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Princess Excursion. You will meet at the location and time shown on your excursion ticket. The location will most likely be the theater. The time will probably be around 7:45 for an 8:30 tour. A staff member will escort your excursion group to the pontoon to board the tender. You do not require tender tickets.

The procedure is as stated by sknight...basically excursions have priority over everyone else at the appropriate time.

Thank You very much for the quick response and great information!

This process will make it easy for our tender ports. We have excursions booked through Princess for both of them.

Thanks again

Happy Cruising

Thanks for the quick response. We should do fine. Glad Princess has a procedure for the Tender process with Excursions booked.

we tendered in Nynasham this past August. Princess organizes the process well. Your entire group must show up before they will issue tickets, this is to prevent groups sending 1 person to hold a place in line while the remaining members of the party can show up later.

Once your entire group shows up, just approach the person distributing the tickets and your group will be escorted to the tenders. we had a private excursion booked and were placed in the 1st boat that shoved off. When returning, give yourselves plenty of time, the lines were long awaiting your turn for the ride back to the ship.
