cnjcruiser82 Posted October 10, 2016 #76 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Advanced dailies while onboard! It would be beneficial knowing what is going on with more than a 12 or 24 hour notic depending on morning or night activities.
dennis-in-ct Posted October 10, 2016 #77 Share Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Just got back from an 8-day Breakaway to Bermuda from NYC and I have a few wish-list items: - Make showers freely available for the fitness room. The ship offers a 200.00 week-long spa pass. The spa pass is the only way to gain access to a locker room with showers. Crazy. On Carnival, the spa and fitness center share the same locker room that offers showers. Makes perfect sense. Please follow that model. - A mid ship elevator. It always felt like we were walking forever. Yes. It's a big ship. - The Atrium was a great place to hang but watching a movie was not possible. too much noise. This trip screened Star Wars The Force Awakens in the main theater in 3D. It was wonderful. Kind of wished all movies could be shown in a nice space like that. - More comfortable seats for the main theater. They were painfully uncomfortable. Please never use that seat manufacturer again. Ever. - The smoking was out of control. Both on SPICE and Casino. - REDUCE Prices on a water bottle. or include it in the drink package. I opened the bottle of water left in my room and the price was 6.50. Seriously? On Carnival they give you one bottle free and the prices are not a gouge. I can buy cocktails all day long but I can't get a bottle of water? - The VIBE area is called SERENITY on Carnival and it is a free open space. Just make a similar area open for all passengers and stop with the annoying nickel and diming. Leaves a bad taste. - I am not a solo passenger but I totally agree with solo passenger rooms that at least offer a window or balcony. -------- Sounds like I am complaining but please know we had an amazing time on the Breakaway. I read a review from someone on the same cruise and I loved the food and staff. We traveled with a group of 8 people and I heard some of the same comments from people in our group. For example, went to Sheehan's and our experience was very attentive and great. Part of our group two tables down who sat about the same time had a completely opposite experience. Other than Moderno's Brazilian eatery, we had all top-notch experiences. I noticed that the new cruise Director, DanDan, has skewed the evening dance parties to be more family friendly. For example, the GLOW party on the Breakaway last year felt like an adult rave. It was wonderful. The grandparents and kids ran screaming. This year, the GLOW Party offered a face-painting table for the kids and a pre "Paint your Tshirt" with glo paints activity. The party had a very family "Wedding Line Dance" vibe this year. I was a bit disappointed but recognize it was an improvement for the majority of the guests. It takes the adult "edge" out of the night. So - we just went to BLISS. Two Wheels Only Posted October 10, 2016 Author #78 Share Posted October 10, 2016 - The VIBE area is called SERENITY on Carnival and it is a free open space. There are "free" adult only and "pay" adult only on Breakaway/Breakaway Plus ships.
volk904 Posted October 10, 2016 #79 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Just back from the Escape. Here is what I would suggest. Add the small pool on H20 and replace the Grotto. About the same space. Change The Margetritaville area to some kind of free burger type eating area like O'Sheehans. Such a wasted space. I would expand Vibe to the whole 17th level and lower the price to $50 pp. Seems like most people would like to see a smoking area in the casino enclosed to reduce the odor. Barb Nahoumi Posted October 10, 2016 #81 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Return of the Spinnaker lounge for shows like newlywed game, bingo, dance lessons, it's a great more intimate place to gather and eliminate the crowds and noise in the atrium. Also the floor to ceiling Windows provide great views when the weather is cold or rainy. The Great Outdoors of the Jewel class ships is another favorite of mine.... I agree with this. The atrium is a lousy place to hold live entertainment. Please bring back the Spinnaker Lounge. I'm glad that the Gem still has one.
dennis-in-ct Posted October 10, 2016 #82 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Do you mean something like Spice H2O? There are "free" adult only and "pay" adult only on Breakaway/Breakaway Plus ships. The Spice H20 has regular pool furniture and is adults only. The VIBE has nicely appointed luxury cushion furniture that you PAY for on the Breakaway. On CARNIVAL, they have an area called SERENITY with that same upscale furniture and it is FREE – unlike Norwegian
Barb Nahoumi Posted October 10, 2016 #83 Share Posted October 10, 2016 When we were on the Explorer of the Seas, they had a screening room for watching movies. The room had theater style seats which were comfortable, and there was no noise from passers-by. This is annoying when movies are shown in the atrium and people walking by are talking. This is a must have.
