Misstravelbug Posted July 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2016 We have a late flight 7:20pm back to New Zealand from Houston Airport. Wondering what our options are to occupy time from when we get off the Liberty, and head to the airport in Houston? We will be catching a transfer back to Houston airport, but will still have quite a few hours to fill. Is there anything to do near Houston airport or any shopping near by? Thanks for any ideas. joandian Posted July 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) There really is nothing around Bush Airport to see. Your best option would be to try and organize a tour of Galveston or NASA with a drop off at Bush after. Bush is the North side of Houston. Edited to add. There is a very nice Shopping area in the Woodlands which isn't all that far from Bush if you wanted to shop, wander around and eat. Desert Cruizers Posted July 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) We are looking at doing the Nasa tour the day before we sail which is the reverse of your plans. Nasa is about 30 minutes outside Galveston heading back toward Houston. If you can get an early Tour, do self disembarking, do your tour then head up to IAH if leaving from there. We are renting a car, was cheaper for us then the transfer or shuttle and taking it back to IAH after our cruise. Our flight leaves around 2 PM back to Calif. TonyBuzz Posted July 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2016 Look for an excursion to NASA RC excursion is GA05 running $99 per person only dropping to IAH not HOU. Good thing is they take care of your bags the whole way. Downside is you would be at the airport hours before your flight. We have a 3PM return flight in October. Looked at several options including hotel and transfers to the ship and we are renting a car for the week and parking it. Having the car on the return gives us a place to store our bags and we plan to explore Galveston. NASA was a thought but I'm a science geek and my wife is not. Desert Cruizers Posted July 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2016 General admission tickets to the Space Center is $24.95 far better then the transfers of $
myfuzzy Posted July 15, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2016 I'm not sure what you are asking, are you taking the transfers from Galveston to Bush international airport? If so, are you asking for things to do during the day? The shuttle normally takes you to the airport from the ship. So you would be going to the airport then looking for things to do? If so, my suggestion is what we did. Take the transfer to the airport. Get a rental car, for the day. Put your luggage in it, and do your tour of the area, when you are ready, just return the car to the airport and get your flight.
