TheDougOut Posted August 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Will the UBP cover the margaritas (those up to $15, of course)? Probably safe to assume - as the drinks have always been covered by UBP at Margaritaville on the Escape.
stickey_mouse Posted August 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I wonder how long it will take for them to build/make the change to Margaritaville?
Jimmy Geegitz Posted August 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2016 They are taking away a free place to eat and replacing it with another pay venue. Not to mention there are Margaritavilles in about every port. I really want to try NCL but with all the upcharge restaurants the only place left will be the crappy buffet. Can you still get a free burger somewhere? or do u have to pay the $7 at Margaritaville?

Son of a son of a ... Posted August 3, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2016 The burgers rock!! We will happily drop $20 for a meal for two ... I would drain through that in 10 minutes at the casino 😺
Jimmy Geegitz Posted August 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I think O'Sheehans is an upcharge. No poolside grill on NCL? That blows.
TheDougOut Posted August 3, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) I think O'Sheehans is an upcharge. No poolside grill on NCL? That blows. O'Sheehans is NOT an upcharge. I believe the older (pre-breakaway) NCL ships have poolside grills. With breakaway, they migrated to the Uptown Grill concept (now Margaritaville). Edit: how do I always forget a ship named "epic"?? What does the epic have in regards to an upper deck grill venue? Edited August 3, 2016 by TheDougOut

TheDougOut Posted August 4, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) Darn, I was really looking forward to trying the cuban food at Flamingo Grill. +1 Agree I'm disappointed that NCL is homogenizing the fleet (Margaritaville on BA/GA, Cellars on Dawn). I want variety when exploring the different ships. Yet the District Brew House remains a one-off venue. Sad face. Exclamation mark. Exclamation mark. tseitel Posted August 4, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 4, 2016 But it was "widely successful" on the other ships, and will help us "enjoy the island life before we leave port" ! lol
Sand and Seas Posted August 4, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2016 But it was "widely successful" on the other ships, and will help us "enjoy the island life before we leave port" ! lol 'Widely successful' ??? Not sure who they were quoting on that one! A very under utilized venue. We were quite disappointed with Margaritaville on Escape....and we had looked forward to it. Now they want to change the Flamingo Grill which we have always loved. Great lunches and a good spot for breakfast. We will really miss it:(

Great lunches and a good spot for breakfast. We will really miss it:( Wasn't it wildly successful when it first opened up and was no charge??? Then they threw a charge onto it and most people don't find it worth it. I looked at the menu and don't see anything on it that makes me want to pay the extra for it, particularly as you can go to it in so many places already. LrgPizza Posted August 4, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2016 It will suck to lose the Flamingo/Uptown Grill as a breakfast option. Maybe with these changes they will bring back the Margaritaville breakfasts? I had the pleasure of having breakfast there 3 times before they stopped serving it, and they were great! It would be nice if we don't have to lose a breakfast option with this change.
TheDougOut Posted August 4, 2016 #19 Share Posted August 4, 2016 It will suck to lose the Flamingo/Uptown Grill as a breakfast option. Maybe with these changes they will bring back the Margaritaville breakfasts? I agree that would be a great compromise / PR-motivated move. When the Escape first launched, I was honestly more excited about that initial breakfast menu than what was being offered for the rest of the day (complimentary at the time). It was disappointing that we never got to experience it. I will miss Uptown on the BA. But in reality, for me, I only had a burger there upon boarding and then 1 or 2 salads during the week. I would drain through that in 10 minutes at the casino [emoji74] No offense, but your screen name suggests you have a little bit of Jimmy Buffet confirmation bias. :) Some of us don't want to pay to eat at chain restaurants we can visit on land. Ah well, had a feeling my June GA trip was my last.
mom2tcdx2 Posted August 4, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Well I won't order any food there, but I certainly wouldn't mind trying all of the margaritas on the menu. Hope they have good hours to be open.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 4, 2016 #22 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Goddamnit. Flamingo Grill was my go-to for Breakfast and lunch on the Getaway with their tasty fried yucca. I was really looking forward to it on my December cruise. Why don't they bring The District and Food Republic to other ships instead of something I can just go down to the strip for if I want overpriced typical restaurant food? I was really looking forward to it on my December cruise. Why don't they bring The District and Food Republic to other ships instead of something I can just go down to the strip for if I want overpriced typical restaurant food? Preach. For me it was the fried plantains, not the yucca, but the cheese pastelitos for breakfast were another contributor to my sense of being on vacation. It's sort of funny; on my first trip on the GA in June 2015, I remember having embarkation day lunch at FG, marveling that it was included in my cruise fare ... and thinking that it was too good to be true.
