andismom Posted August 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2016 On RC Liberty of the Sea my 13 year old was able to stay out with the teen club gang until 1:00 am then they were expected to go back to their cabins or security would make them. Does anyone know Carnival's policy on teen curfew? We will be on the Freedom in October.

riffatsea Posted August 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2016 I was under the impression that parents set curfews even if the ship has a later one. I would not want a 13year old wandering around a ship until 1 AM with anyone!
vwrestler171 Posted August 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2016 No curfew, they expect the parents to actually be parents and not expect Carnival to be responsible for them.
Zoey Posted August 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Really? I've taken a teen on both NCL and RCCL, and both had either a midnight - or possibly 1:00 curfew - can't remember - unless they were participating in a Teen Club activity. In fact, I fell asleep one night after waiting up for my grandson, and was awakened by a security guard who escorted him to the cabin. The next night he was past curfew again (never taking him on another cruise!) and I marched to the dance club (adults) and marched him out. He was embarrassed - but Ohhhh Well!!!! bury me at sea Posted August 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2016 My teenage granddaughter and I agree on her curfew time nightly. As far as I know Carnival doesn't have a curfew.
Schoifmom Posted August 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Really? I've taken a teen on both NCL and RCCL That may be true, but this is Carnival. I know that this is old, but this is all that I can find. Carnival's website doesn't even address the issue, since they don't have curfews. http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=4701

Does anyone know Carnival's policy on teen curfew? We will be on the Freedom in October. Carnival does not have and does not enforce a curfew like Royal does. In my opinion they need to at times. Many parents think that Carnival will watch the kiddos 24/7.
Rare kctwinmommy Posted August 10, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 10, 2016 Our son has been twice, being 12 both times, and he would come back to the cabin when the Circle C closed at midnight or 12:30, whatever time it was. Although we told him one night he had to be back at 11:00 because we had to be up early. I've never relied on a curfew to send him back and I've never heard about it either. stevefrisco Posted August 10, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 10, 2016 I find it hilarious/ironic that CCL doesn't have a curfew. When my dp was pregnant they stopped her from being able to purchase cigarettes and use her cheers package yet they let parents make decisions in other areas about the health and well-being of families. What is most funny is teens running around have the potential to be a nuisance to other passengers, a pregnant mother drinking and smoking in moderation(on the advice of her physician) is a no-no ...gimme a break! MrsGrohl Posted August 10, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 10, 2016 I'm not aware of a curfew. Last August my son was at Circle C until 1:00 am watching a movie on two different nights. I was quite surprised that Circle C was even open that late. When we went to check up on him, it was him and two other boys crashed on the floor watching the movie (I think the one boy might have actually been sleeping). kona_wahine Posted August 10, 2016 #17 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Carnival doesn't have a curfew. They expect parents to parent their kids From what I saw in April this wasn't happening. I was amazed at the kids ages that were running around alone after midnight. And I am really disturbed how one female with two males approximately 16 were acting, running around the halls. If that was my daughter it wouldn't have been happening. Very disturbing. Edited August 10, 2016 by kona_wahine
John Reid Posted August 10, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 10, 2016 Carnival doesn't have a curfew. They expect parents to parent their kids And if parents are not supervising them, then what? Disagree. They don't want to be involved in that aspect of supervision.

stevefrisco Posted August 11, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Dear partner...we got into the habit of saying partner instead of other more heteronormative appellations because we felt so strongly about one side the the marriage equality debate. I guess the term is archaic now.

I don't know what physician would EVER suggest smoking and drinking when pregnant! It's a well known fact that alcohol can cause birth defects and smoking can cause lower baby weight and damage to respiratory system. I'm glad Carnival had more common scense than her Doctor!!! Stevefrisco's trying to hijack this thread as he has previous threads so that he can rant and fight with people about this. I've watched it play out before in smoking threads, but posting it in a teen curfew thread, that's a stretch. He must be getting desperate to find a way to talk about this again.

I've known of at least two people who were encouraged to cut down on smoking, but not quit cold turkey while pregnant. Both were encouraged to slowly wean themselves off the cigarettes with the goal of quitting by the end of their pregnancy. It happens. Probably not often. But it's not unheard of.
