Vision of the Seas. What do you think?

We are contemplating a Baltic cruise next summer on Vision of the Seas. I am concerned about some of the reviews I am reading.

Have you sailed on this ship recently?

How was food, customer service, getting on and off ship at ports?

I would really like to move things up a notch - but itineraries aren't working with Celebrity. (We ideally are looking for 10 night cruise)

Depends what you're looking for in a ship.

We went on a transatlantic on Vision, in a small Inside and it was one of our best ever trips, and this was before they added specialty restaurants and so on. One thing they did was show first run movies in the theatre so we had a nice big screen. Great trip, great crew and decent food. Not much luck in the casino tho' !

We did b2b cruises on the Vision for Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic Sea in 2012 and absolutely loved the ship, especially when sailing through the Swedish archipelago. We have booked her again next August for a 16 nights Transatlantic from Denmark to New York. It is a smaller ship, but we are looking forward to sailing on her again. Crew is exceptional.

Please come join our roll call for this sailing. We are pretty active and already have arranged some excursions.

A couple of thoughts. We did a TA on Vision in 2012 and loved her. We are also doing the Baltic next year. It won't be the same crew. This cruise is about port visits so the ship is less relevant. Food is subjective. I have had good food and bad food on ships. But I've always found something acceptable or good to eat. Again a Baltic cruise is about the ports. I wouldn't worry at all. You'll love this cruise.

I hate to be a voice of dissent. Of all the RCL ships I've sailed, Vision was the least favorite.

Vision is old and tired. Musty, tattered drapes and peeling paint are the first things that come to mind. I remember feeling as if I was in a time warp. Maybe she's been in dry dock recently and has had a refurb?

But the ship's appearance might not matter that much as you'll be in a beautiful part of the world!

We did vision out of Panama and it was a very port intensive cruise. It will not have all the extras on it but is still my favorite cruise to date. The smaller ship gets you a friendlier staff that has the time to get to know it's customers. Since we were doing a port intensive cruise we weren't really on the ship during the day and having the smaller number of people on board made port stops more enjoyable (we were not in any port with a large ship and the extra couple thousands that come into port with those ships). Baltic seas should be port intensive, you will be using her as a floating hotel. We found both the passengers and the crew to be way more friendly with less people. We would definitely book Vision again especially anything in Europe.

We loved the Vision and crew. :D However, we are pretty laid back and we don't do many of the activities available on the larger ships such as the flowerier, etc. Out of our 33 cruises, it was certainly in the top 3 for us. My DW does miss the promenade on the smaller ships.

Does this mean Vision doesn't have a promenade deck? I can't tell from the deck plans and this is a deal breaker for me. :(

There is no inside promenade deck (as in Voyager, Freedom, Oasis) but there is the

outside deck (AKA life boat deck).

The smaller ships like Vision and Radiance class have a Centrum set up. Too small

for that double deck mall like inside promenade area. And from your signature, looks like you

might already know that. ;)

Vision is pretty much a twin of the Grandeur. I think the Vision class were built in 3 pairs by different shipyards and have some differences but they're probably more alike than different.

I know Grandeur has had some nice upgrades in the last drydock or 2 and Vision probably has as well.

That poster has already been on Vision and Radiance class, according to their

signature. Grandeur was one of them.

Yes, but it isn't clear that they realized Grandeur and Enchantment were Vision class ships.

We have sailed on the Vision three times, and just booked another cruise on it last week, going back to Europe June/July 2017. We have done the Baltic's, Norwegian Fjords, and British Isles. We just booked the British Isle's again. The ship is great, we have not had any issues with the ship at all. Food has been great previous years, wonderful crew and good entertainment. We do not sail for the ship's though, we sail for where we want to go, and who can take us there, for a price we are willing to pay. Ship and food really is not high priority for us, when we get the ports we want, but we would not have to think twice of not booking the Vision of the Seas. We like the ship, small and easy layout. Sure they have no promenade, flow riders, zip lines, etc... but some of the small ships are really the best cruises. We booked Serenade in April and I was worried about the ship, but we loved it! It was a great cruise, and I would love to go on that ship again!
