lkjcruiser75 Posted September 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2016 When is the chocolate extravaganza done? Seems like I remember it on the last fun day at sea... Am I wrong? And is it listed in the Fun Times?

Rare shof515 Posted September 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2016 it is no longer at midnight, it is now on the last sea day during lunch in a small section at the lido buffet usually near the sweet spot
Micahs Grandad Posted September 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2016 And it looks a lot better than it tastes. Nice to look at but we dont think it is worth the calories.

lizardhowson Posted September 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Will this be listed in their Fun Times Guide? Yes - it's not even close to what it "used to be". A few extra chocolate desserts on the dessert section of the Lido buffets. And as stated, not really that tasty.
Micahs Grandad Posted September 6, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Yes - it's not even close to what it "used to be". A few extra chocolate desserts on the dessert section of the Lido buffets. And as stated, not really that tasty. Strangely enough as far as we are concerned the best thing on the buffet is their rice pudding.
ryanpatricksmom Posted September 6, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2016 ...And it takes up a line normally used for the lunch selections on the Lido buffet creating more lines and congestion when trying to get lunch. We avoid the Lido like the plague that day.
Crusin Hogs Posted September 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Yes - it's not even close to what it "used to be". A few extra chocolate desserts on the dessert section of the Lido buffets. And as stated, not really that tasty. On The Dream class ships it is 1/2 of the buffet section , They run 2 separate lines for the chocolate , Large selection to choose from , small chocolate shakes also there
suzycruiser2 Posted September 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2016 And it looks a lot better than it tastes. Nice to look at but we dont think it is worth the calories. Sadly most of the desserts are prettier to look at than to eat.
bakersdozen12 Posted September 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 6, 2016 I have to agree with those that have stated its nothing special. Ironically enough, I thought that none of the deserts really tasted chocolatey. The best thing was the donut holes dipped in the chocolate fountain. euphscott Posted September 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 6, 2016 At this point, it's just piling on - but yeah, it's not good tasting at all... Why they put so much effort into it and then have it fall SO flat. If Carnival asked me how to cut costs - I'd tell them drop this mess. It's just not good. That said OP - it is usually the last sea day of your cruise during lunch in the buffet area. It's not well advertised although apparently it is in the daily papers. I have never seen it - just happened upon it or remembered to look for it. Good luck!

sandij Posted September 6, 2016 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2016 It's usually so crowded that it's almost not worth the wait in line, plus on our last cruise we had a lot of children who were breaking in line and sticking their fingers in everything, don't know where their parents were. maldenmusic Posted September 7, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 7, 2016 We usually avoid this because it's not all that good IMHO. But it's the last sea day.

CalaDragonflyLady Posted September 7, 2016 #17 Share Posted September 7, 2016 I agree with several others here, the goodies look much better than they taste...............I guess there's a reason the signs say "Choco" instead of chocolate.......

CalaDragonflyLady Posted September 8, 2016 #20 Share Posted September 8, 2016 We have found the best treats at tea time. Agreed! But they have pared down a bit, less items and only Lipton and Earl Grey tea on my last cruise.

Domino D Posted September 8, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 8, 2016 As a chocolate lover it is quite disappointing! Agree. This is no longer something we even think about on the cruise. It just kind of occurs. Everything we try is just kind of eh.

GradUT Posted September 8, 2016 #25 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Tea time on Carnival is a sad shadow of what it used to be just a few years ago. If you want a great teatime, sail on HAL.
