Ocean Dancer Posted September 28, 2016 #76 Share Posted September 28, 2016 What we LOVED about the Anthem was the casino was on the 3rd deck. We NEVER had to walk through it to get from point A to point B. How bad is smoking in the casino on Serenade? I'm guessing that we will have to go up or down a level to avoid the smoke? MommaBear55 Posted September 28, 2016 #77 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Just RIDICULOUS. I have posted many times that I am not a smoker and smoke does not and never will bother me. I grew up with it. (dad). We always had it in:Restaurants, bars, grocery stores, movie theater's, airlines, buses, EVERYWHERE. Now...you cannot smoke anywhere and I see people outside in snow storms having a cigarette. When people are in the SMOKING SECTION and one has a problem with it..GET OUT..GO AWAY. Don't wave your hand back and forth in front of your face....don't cover your nose with your hands....don't give dirty looks...etc. Smokers have had all their rights pretty much taken away from them and non smokers will NEVER be happy. While I am on a rant...I as so sick of the smoking threads. I don't know what they accomplish other than people complaining about it and saying the same things over and over and over again. I am still an "evil" smoker! When smoking was banned in the cabins I obeyed the new rules. When smoking was banned on the balconies I boycotted RCI for a year or so but when I came back I obeyed the new rules. Now as smoking areas become more and more limited I limit my smoking only to approved places. All I ask of the non-smokers is to leave me in peace in the few smoking areas that remain and avoid all of the coughing and arm waving drama. I am an avid non smoker but you would never find me making faces or waving my arms or making comments in the smoking area. It is your right to smoke there, and in fact, it always looks like a very social group. I have had balcony smokers since the rule changed, and I do report them. I also wish they had an enclosed bar where smokers could indulge, as I understand the appreciation of a good smoke and a good drink together. The one thing I would like to try onboard ship is the casino, so will have to do a Celebrity cruise at some point. I gamble so little it would not be worth Royal's time to make a non smoking evening. Peachy59 Posted September 28, 2016 #78 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Is there a crew smoking area on the anthem ? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I'm sure there is but I don't know where. I've never been on the Anthem. Ken at the beach Posted September 28, 2016 #81 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Doesn't Royal ban smoking on formal nights in the casino? They used to but since they have become more restrictive in the areas where smoking is allowed they stopped that practice.

davekathy Posted September 28, 2016 #84 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Doesn't Royal ban smoking on formal nights in the casino? We just got off the Explorer (23 September). When we were walking through the casino (heading to the Schooner bar) on formal evening 2 there were a few Cruisers smoking in the Casino. So on that particular Cruise it wasn't banned or not being enforced.

mollyeilis Posted September 28, 2016 #90 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I All I ask of the non-smokers is to leave me in peace in the few smoking areas that remain and avoid all of the coughing and arm waving drama. Sure am interested to know how to stop a physiological response to something that makes one's lungs seize up. Also think it's weird that people think that trying to wave something offensive out of their fave is "drama". Again, it's a natural response. It's a rare smoker that didn't cough etc with their first cigarette. My mom didn't react; she was rare. She told that story of her first cigarette a thousand times in the 70s and 80s and all of her smoker friends were always amazed. So even most smokers at one point had coughing, gagging reactions to cigarettes. Stop assuming it's fake. It's not. And when you're on a cruise it is easy to forget what side of the ship you're on and where the smoking section is. Once you've made the error you work it out quickly, but there's going to be a steady influx of people accidentally heading across that side of the deck for the first or second time. goofy810 Posted September 28, 2016 #91 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Is this in writing anywhere or just message board rumor? I would think that the level of one's loyalty program along w/ the particular cabin the smoker has would come into play. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. :D No it has nothing to do with Loyalty or cabin level. And they dont warn at all anymore its $250 each time they catch you and then off the ship and baned from Royal if you dont stop. They know now days they will lose more folks for not stoping the smokers then by banning smoking. I saw a Pinicale couple kicked off b4 for smoking the first 2 sea days (i reported them) on there balcony, They were standing with there bags at the first port when the ship left. bogofman Posted September 28, 2016 #92 Share Posted September 28, 2016 our first cruise on a Royal ship was on indy out of Southampton No smoking in the casino out of UK then. Our following cruises have all had smoking in the casino, and hence is a place that is a no go area, Its awful, when the rest of the ship is smoke free, waking into clouds of second hand smoke, and just as bad is the sweet fragrance they spray to try and mask it off. this really sets off my sinus's i assume smokers don't get this as their body has adapted over the years
Moodussnare Posted September 28, 2016 #93 Share Posted September 28, 2016 The wind does not blow it all away, that's why smokers think no one will ever know. I sometimes get smoke from the deck above or from cabins further up the line. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Thank you for your reasonable and polite post. With so much viciousness and hostility from the AntiSmoke, insisting that they are not drama queens, it is refreshing to come across this. It's a big ship, there is plenty of room for all. Being nice about it makes the vacation so much better.

We could smell it all the time, as well as see the ashes raining down. Unfortunately, we couldn't use our balcony much because of it.

Enforcer Posted September 28, 2016 #97 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Hi All, I am a non smoker but don't care if people do smoke (they can burst into flames if they want :) ) With one of the reasons given by cruise lines against people smoking on balconies is the fire risk, has anyone got any experience of the "bridge" monitoring the sides of the ship for smoke on the cctv. aloha43 Posted September 28, 2016 #98 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Jeez folks...this is really a non-issue. The wind blows it away, so YOU aren't breathing it. Live and let live. I can't imagine spending my vacation time trying to "catch" someone doing something they aren't supposed to. Waste of MY time!~ You are wrong. Period. The wind doesn't blow it away. It blows it right into your neighbors room. How would you know if I am breathing it??? This is a BIG ISSUE for some people who are allergic or have lung problems. No one is running around "trying to catch" them. But if it happens, You bet I would be reporting it.

I can't imagine spending my vacation time trying to "catch" someone doing something they aren't supposed to. Waste of MY time!~ There was this guy once, totally not me, just some guy. He wasn't me, but his name was like proncho1793 or something. He wasn't me, ok? He was a friend. Well anyway. This one time on a cruise where someone was smoking on their balcony and said that smoke magically flies away never to bother anyone ever... remember this wasn't me, ok? So he went near the divider and really ripped a massive one. And well, that guy... he stank that night. That other guy. And the smoker smelled it and made a comment. And that other guy said "Farting anywhere outside is ok. The smell gets sucked up by magic and floats to moon making it impossible for anyone else to smell it. YOU CAN'T SMELL IT!!! It's impossible!!! It's my right to fart!" The guy next to that guy didn't smoke on his balcony again. Or so I heard from my friend.
