rc9000 Posted May 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2004 We are thinking about taking the 28 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Capetown this Sept. Haven't been on any of Princess's smaller ships. We have been on the Grand and will be on the Caribbean Princess this June. Any thoughts or opinions from cruisers who have experienced both would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. GottoCruise Posted May 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2004 We have 25 Princess cruises and have been on many of her ships. We have also been on the Tahitian Princess (sister ship to the Pacific). If it were possible we would do ALL our cruising on this size ship --- We are booked for 24 days on the Pacific for July 25 - can't wait!!! rc9000 Posted May 20, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Thanks for your reply. 25 cruises!! You certainly have the experience to compare. Why do you like the smaller ships?
GottoCruise Posted May 20, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2004 We've way more than 25 cruises -- just 25 PRINCESS cruises....We like the smaller ships because passengers become "one family" especially on the longer cruises, I think everyone is more friendly as you "see" eachother more throughout the cruise...!! You have the same ameneties as on the huge ships - and you don't have the huge crowds to disembark for the Port excursions - it's so much easier to get around the ship - you become acquainted with the ship in "no time" - We just enjoy everything so much more - ie. the dance lessons, the aerobic classes, no crowds..... did you every try to find your "Photo" on the wall on a 3,000 passenger ship???!!! - time consuming and not in a positive way!! - I could go on and on ---try it - you'll like it, i'm sure! We cruised a lot on the "Old" Island and Pacific Princess' - wish we had more ships of that size (with Princess) to choose from ! (There are some very expensive "boutique" ships! - the small size is one reason they are more expensive, they also can visit different Ports, because of the ship size.)
