Upsell Fairy phone calls

Hello all!

 

Leaving 10/17 on the Elation with the whole fam-damily (7 between two cabins :eek:). Over the past two weeks, have gotten 3 or 4 calls attempting to sell an upgrade from our OV (6D) room to a grand suite. The cost for the first two phone calls was $500 (for some reason, the one today was for $600). I've declined all the offers, although I'll listen to them as they call. Does anyone know if these amounts are negotiable? Has anyone offered a lesser amount and had them accept? This is the first cruise I've ever been on where I've been called about upgrading. While I wouldn't mind the extra room, I'm not sure it's worth that for us. We're the type that wouldn't use the balcony much and aren't in the room much except for showering and sleeping!

I have never had any luck offering a lesser amount on the upgrade calls that I have received.

I'd be stoked to get an upsell call for $500-$600 to a grand suite! I keep stalking the suites available as my cruise gets closer, and waiting for my call.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm sure that the upgrade being offered is a great deal, just being conscious of excursions that we've planned and other trip costs. Wish I could take advantage, but don't think its wise to this time around. Perhaps another time...

We tried to negotiate with upsell fairy twice and both times told us they cannot but will go to next person on their list

If they are continuing to call it sounds like no one else is taking the bait either. So what have you got to lose? I would call them back and tell them you already had a GS offer for $500 but at this time it's just not feasible for your family, however if they get an offer for $XX amount to give you a call and you'd be interested in upgrading.

 

That will at least tell them what ballpark you are in for the upgrade and if nothing else will take you off the list so they stop calling at the amount you can't afford. Who knows, it could work if they don't get any other takers.
