gscarfino@sbcglobal.net Posted October 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Is it necessary to bring beach towels for use at the pool and the beaches? I thought I remembered when we went on our last cruise there were towels you could use and when you got off the boat there were big stacks of them and everybody just took one. I may be thinking of a completely different trip. Thanks
mishka422 Posted October 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2016 No need to bring towels. They put big blue carnival towels in your cabin to use at the pool and on shore. Just don't lose them! They are expensive when they make you pay for them Sent from my SM-G925V using Forums mobile app
hutt1 Posted October 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2016 The ship will have beach towels for you.
OCruisers Posted October 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2016 It's as you remember! You DO NOT need to bring beach towels. They are provided to you by the ship. :D

terri-eddie Posted October 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2016 I find the blue Carnival towels too bulky to bring ashore...they take up a lot of room in a carry bag. I'm going to bring a couple of thinner beach towels from home.
Grayce Posted October 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2016 I always bring a couple of thin beach towels for taking off the ship. The carnival towels are big and heavy to carry around on excursions.
portlandpete Posted October 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 15, 2016 We bring thinner towels too because they are easier to carry plus we can find our loungers at beaches easier. Everyone else has the blue ones!
coevan Posted October 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2016 We love microfiber towels. They fold up to the size of a wash cloth, weigh almost nothing and dry super fast. We carry a dry bag ashore and 2 CCL towels will take up the entire bag. So for us it's a big YES.
evandbob Posted October 15, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 15, 2016 It is absolutely NOT Necessary to bring beach towels from home for the pool or excursions. You may if you wish to, but it is not necessary. The towels provided by Carnival are large and are easily carried by this senior guy.
beachbum53 Posted October 15, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Yes, the ship provides towels. It's entirely up to you if you want to bring your own. However, if you're trying to keep packing to a minimum, you may want to leave the beach towels at home. We used to pack a beach bag to carry our beach towels, sun block, water bottles, etc. in. But that's a lot for one person (usually me) to carry around. So, a few years ago, I bought packable backpacks for each of us. The backpacks fold up very small and take up less room than a thin beach towel. No one person has to carry everything. And besides, when the Carnival towels get wet and/or sandy, we exchange them for clean dry towels. Less laundry for us to take care of. ;)
luv2trvlnow Posted October 15, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) I agree that the towels are large and heavy to carry around. But I prefer them to carrying my own. Especially when I am spending time at the beach. I am really not interested in trying to get the sand out of my own towel. I just let Carnival take care of it by using their towels. Not to mention waiting for your towels to dry. Edited October 15, 2016 by luv2trvlnow

RW20 Posted October 16, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 16, 2016 The ship does provide towels. The best part is they change them out for you when you reboard after been on port so you can have a fresh towel very easily. I found mine took a long time to dry. The down side is everyone has the same towel so yours doesn't stand out. Also they are thick which is great but it makes them heavy. I may look into the microfiber ones posted on this thread. Looks interesting.
Domino D Posted October 16, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Reading this thread has made me realize how much crap I carry in my backpack when we get off the ship. Towels are the least of my problem. I am cutting back.

DGP1111 Posted October 16, 2016 #18 Share Posted October 16, 2016 It's been quite a while since I was last on a Carnival ship, but there was a time when Atlantis/Nassau denied the use of CCL towels to be displayed on their loungers at the resort . . . and their own issued towels were part of the excursions booked there. I'm going to assume that policy has changed . . . and I thought it was odd at the time it was in place (especially since it was not enforced across all visiting cruise lines). . MCFTJCH2V Posted October 16, 2016 #19 Share Posted October 16, 2016 No reason to lug them from home and take up valuable packing space coming and going. They have them on board waiting for you.
elainmir Posted October 16, 2016 #20 Share Posted October 16, 2016 I get those super thin beach towels from walmart and literally four of them rolled up together equal one normal beach towel. It's cheap..16$ for four and if I lose them oh well , it's a lot cheaper than the 26$ for losing one of Carnival's bulky ole towels! ;)
ray98 Posted October 16, 2016 #21 Share Posted October 16, 2016 No. The ones provided are great quality. I have never lost a beach towel in my life, I am not going to start obsessing over 'what ifs' now.

stargate fan Posted October 16, 2016 #23 Share Posted October 16, 2016 I have a question for those who bring towels from home: How do you clean them? I know that after a day of sweat, sunscreen, sand, and salt water, the Carnival towels are pretty ripe. Curious minds want to know.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I am certainly not going to spend the time to find a machine and then do a beach towel. Especially since it cost around $3 per washer and dryer. $6 to clean a beach towel???!!!!!!!:eek::eek: I'll just let Carnival do the work and use their towels. The extra weight of their towels is worth it to not deal with the wet, sandy, sunscreen smell of the towels after a day in port.
