beerman2 Posted December 26, 2017 #226 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Personally I deal with the Pepsi, even though is strongly prefer Coke, Coke Zero to be specific. The next cruise we are booked on, we will be traveling with several Coke employees, and it will be interesting to see what they do. Being seen drinking Pepsi in public for them can be a fireable offense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Guess they will be drinking straight up or with water [emoji23] But I do feel their dilemma as I worked for a beer distribution company. Sent from my iPad using Forums Funny, but sad really. Don’t go for the unequal alternative - drink something different! Live and learn. It’s like growing out of using a dummy (or pacifier as I think the US say?). Whether for health reasons or not. I’m sure there’s a healthier alternative after reading that link. I wonder are there going to be many like this on board the Bliss? Thank you for the link, it was very interesting. PS. I drink Coke Zero out of choice but didn’t miss it, in fact my teeth were cleaner and my breath sweeter! Everyone has the same right to post. You read something and took the time to post a reply just as Moby0215 did. LOL. You BEAT me to it. I was going to tell him/her the same thing. vent1020 Posted December 26, 2017 #230 Share Posted December 26, 2017 You know, I quit eating sugar about 4 months ago. It was hard for the first 3 or 4 days, but then got easier after that. I imagine not having Coke for a week wouldn't be that bad, especially with substitutes.

Good point, Coke household here, but it is far from an issue to me..like at the bottom of the list... BOURBON is best with a splash of water. zdcatc12 Posted March 3, 2018 #236 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Without looking through the other cruise lines do the Pepsi drinkers whine as much as the Coke drinkers do? This Pepsi drinker doesn't. Of course, it helps that I like Pibb and Mello Yello and usually they will have one of those. Of course my DW has to have her PEPSI every morning and she does when we go on CCL because they let everyone bring on a 12-pack of any soda. Usually on CCL, our hard-sided carry-on suitcase is packed with just Pepsi and champagne!!
cruisewkid Posted March 3, 2018 #237 Share Posted March 3, 2018 We will be on the Escape (3 weeks from today!). I will be "making-do" with the Pepsi on board (unless I can load up from the vending machines after security at the port or the arcade vending machines that I am reading about). I was planning to find/drink Diet Coke while in ports. Not planning to get off the boat in Jamaica - BUT does anybody know if I dash off into the port area, right off of the boat, in Jamaica - would I find some readily available? Thanks -

NLH Arizona Posted March 3, 2018 #239 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Good point, Coke household here, but it is far from an issue to me..like at the bottom of the list... I'm a diet Coke drinker and when on the ships, I either drink diet Pepsi, water, iced tea or lemonade. As an adult, I can go without a diet Coke for a week or two, as it is not going to kill me. We received a free bottle of water from the companies that shuttled you from the ship into town in key west and I put mine in my bag and forgot about it. They caught it on the scanners when I re-boarded and made me toss it. So don’t expect to be able to bring drinks back on the ship from port. stuey Posted March 3, 2018 #242 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I feel your pain. I am addicted to Coke. But I have to settle with just finding some in port to drink before getting back on ship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
cruisewkid Posted March 3, 2018 #243 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Wasn't going to try to bring back on board......... I was just hoping there would be some in the fenced "port" area/Just thought I could hop off, guzzle a few, and get right back on! Your question is about Falmouth then? I haven't been there but just about every Caribbean port I've been to have shops and bars right outside the customs/entry checkpoint. But it would be outside the fenced in secure area. So given how long it takes just to walk from a ship to that point, I'd give yourself at least an hour to make such a "dash." But certainly worth it for a some good ol' Coca Cola. :)
kathy884 Posted March 3, 2018 #245 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I found out that I wasn't really dependent on Diet Coke, even though I thought I was. I found that I drank a lot less soda and didn't even get a headache or anything. I did end up ordering about one Diet Pepsi a day on the ship each morning (just for the caffine - hate the taste) and after that just drank water on days at sea. Also, I would get excited on port days and get a Diet Coke or two in port. NCL was very strict though. They would not even let me bring a partially full individual Diet Coke bottle on board. I am even doing my second NCL cruise next January. It wasn't my choice (I voted for a mini land vacation to Savannah, GA in March instead), but I'm still delighted to go and said sure. I was out voted by DH, DS (22) -- who wanted to do a cruise with our winter/spring vacation budget, and my mom and dad who will be joining us and are also very up for doing a cruise which now is my dad's favorite vacation. All in all, I despite them not letting be bring Diet Coke on board did enjoy the first cruise and will probably enjoy my next one even more. For us, DH has a casino freebie of two people in a balcony room base rate, but not taxes. We will go with three people (one of the freebie offers is extra person -- you pay taxes, of course though) and we will pay to upgrade to a large balcony mini suite on the 8th floor. So with that deal NCL is a no brainer and the best price for us by a lot. I also hate elegant and formal nights, so NCL really works well for me in that regard too, better than other lines where I feel obligated to dress up. I also really liked the NCL food and entertainment on our last cruise on the Escape (both were higher quality than I expected for sure -- very pleasant surprise). Cruises in general for me on different lines are more similar than different, and I thought NCL did a very decent job of offering a fun product that was a very nice offering for the price charged, even if we didn't have the discount. kathy884 Posted March 3, 2018 #247 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Is this a joke? If someone can't manage a week of life drinking something different, they have issues bigger than anything this forum can solve. No this is not a joke. I totally sympathize with OP. It's one thing and very doable to go without your soda of choice if that is forced upon you in extenuating circumstance and sure that's fine. But if it's something you really enjoy and your one vice in life, it does seem a shame to do without on vacation. I can totally understand someone booking a different line. Seems like a very valid reason to me.:)

kathy884 Posted March 3, 2018 #249 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I brought lots of dollars with me to Miami to buy Diet Coke after security. I actually had 30 one dollar bills with me and a small empty wheel suit case, but alas all the soda machines were out of Diet Coke. I just want people to know that they cannot depend on Diet Coke being in the machines after the security check point. I love the idea of a bottling fee for your own soda, so you can have what you want on your vacation. But I imagine that this will not work with NCL's contract with Pepsi. I will bring dollars along on my next cruise too, just in case and look to see if they have Diet Coke in the arcade in the game room. I will not count on either of these though, and who knows maybe the cruise will even cure me of my "Diet Coke" vice. If all other things were equal I personally would pick a cruise that served Coke products or let me bring what I want to bring on board. Why not? I personally think most cruise lines are more similar than different and Caribbean islands seem pretty similar too if you are only there for a day vs. a week. Pick a cruise that lets you do what you want to do and get pleasure from. And if that is drinking "Diet Coke" while sitting out on your deck, I can totally relate. A no alcoholic beverage cruise wouldn't bother me in the least. That's where cruises make their money, though, so I haven't seen that.
