john2003 Posted November 21, 2016 #76 Share Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Just entered my info. Can someone confirm that i didn't need to scan my passport. If I understand correctly the scan function is just a shortcut for entering the passport details not a necessary step. Sent from my LG-H812 using Forums mobile app Correct, but if you decide to scan it be sure to check your data. The scanner is difficult to use and then scanned my wife's passport correctly but made a few errors on mine reading an 8 as a B and a 6 as a G. Entering manually is probably better. foflocruiser Posted November 23, 2016 #79 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks I alreafy have the app but will need wifi during disembarkation. Sent from my LG-H812 using Forums mobile app To send your receipt...submit while onboard. Your phone service provider is all you need. No WIFI needed in debark. You need WIFI only to download the APP
foflocruiser Posted November 23, 2016 #80 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Hope to be able to use this app in Port Everglades when I return on the Eurodam on November 26th. I am still unclear about whether Port Everglades has wifi available as I do not have data on my phone or ipad. I know that I can complete all the info on the ship with my internet plan, but I'm assuming i will need wifi for my ipad at customs. Port Everglades has WIFI during embark. WIFI is needed to download the APP. To submit your receipt during debark, no WIFI necessary. Your cell phone service data is enough.
WeRockChalkKU Posted November 23, 2016 #81 Share Posted November 23, 2016 They are keeping the Global Entry dedicates lanes, right? As a GE/Nexus member this doesn't interest me whatsoever. Just want to make sure they aren't idiotically removing GE lanes for this. This am Global Entry and MPC folks both use same lane. Glad we had our GE cards with us because we had previously downloaded the MPC app but couldn't get it to work. Some folks did it get to work this am. LadyVol1 Posted November 24, 2016 #82 Share Posted November 24, 2016 We have Global Entry and have the Mobile Passport Control app downloaded. This afternoon we landed at DFW from our Sydney Maasdam cruise. The Mobile Passport Control App was much faster than Global Entry. Just make sure you have the app downloaded. I filled out all of our info in the app on the plane, including taking a photo of each of us (not connected to wifi/cellular/anything) and when we landed and I turned on my cell service I hit the "get receipts" button (or something like that). I showed the digital receipts at the first line (Passport Control, I think) and then scanned the digital receipts at Customs (I think Customs is second, I might have these two mixed up). We didn't have to mess with getting our photo printed on one of those little pieces of paper that Global Entry requires. Both processes (Passport Control and Customs) took less than 1 total minute combined! From now on we will use Mobile Passport Control vs. Global Entry whenever we can. Just my two cents. CTBob Posted November 24, 2016 #83 Share Posted November 24, 2016 There is an update for Android phones available today. Unfortunately it still doesn't have a choice for ports. Hopefully that will come soon. This update just is supposed to improve the experience of using the app.
barb-ottawa Posted November 27, 2016 #84 Share Posted November 27, 2016 Downloaded the app for our Nov. 19th cruise on the Eurodam. Completed all the information on the ship, no problem. Saved enough internet minutes to complete all that was necessary on the morning of disembarkation at 8 a.m. All the required options were available to chose, i.e. Port Everglades, terminal number, etc. Took our time at breakfast because we were not concerned about any lineups since we had the magic app. Entered the terminal and asked where the Mobile Passport lineup was. Response was "there isn't one". Did not believe him so I asked another person, same response. So we had to get in the lineup. When we finally got to the customs agent, I said I was disappointed that the Mobile Passport was not available. She told me they didn't have a scanner in that terminal. Boo. When I got home last night, I posted this on the Mobile Passport page on Facebook and got a response from them saying they checked and it was definitely available in that terminal that day. I responded that if that was the case, then that made my experience even more annoying.

WeRockChalkKU Posted November 27, 2016 #86 Share Posted November 27, 2016 barb-ottawa, what terminal did the ship use? For us on the Kdam last Wednesday, we used terminal 21 and there was clearly a lane marked for the Passport Control App folks. We had the app but couldn't get it to process that morning so we were still able to use the shorter line because we had our Global Entry cards. barefootguy Posted November 28, 2016 #87 Share Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) We came off the Z-dam on Nov. 20, Pt. Everglades, pier 21, late disembarkation, 9:30 or so... Grabbed our bags & headed to immigration with Mobile Passport set to go! We saw the Mobile Passport sign, no one there in line with mega backup in normal immigration line. Started to follow the sign, were stopped by agent, she asked if we had Mobile Passport, yes! She was so EXCITED, couldn't believe it! She said we were the first of the day to have one. That's after probably 1,500 folks had left ship. She had to see it work! Escorted us to immigration officer at check point, stopped the main line & said these folks have Mobile Passport & priority! Lots of interesting looks from all line, not good looks... Just who are these people? We just hit, receipt... Wife's came up, scanned & she was good to go, then mine scanned & we were through. Life can be GREAT! Fastest immigration line ever!!! Edited November 28, 2016 by barefootguy

CTBob Posted December 23, 2016 #89 Share Posted December 23, 2016 The Android Update has finally landed. Now you have the choice to enter at an airport or a cruiseport. Only Port Everglades is supported for now. I'll get to try it when we return from our B2B on the Koningsdam on January 22nd. We're slowly catching up with the iPhone people. sandebeach Posted December 23, 2016 #90 Share Posted December 23, 2016 Just off the Koningsdam this AM, arrived at Terminal 21. Did walk-off with luggage, we were Expedited Group 2, and Group 1 was still backed up past the Billboard Lounge when we went down to Deck 2 at 7:45 AM. But we were off the ship at 8:05 AM, and used the Global Entry line in the Terminal, and there was no one in line! Breezed through Customs, it was wonderful. The Mobile Passport lane was next to us, and there were a few people in that line, but I was so pleased that Global Entry lane was such a fast-lane for us. Bob Off the Koningsdam on Dec 14. We were the first group off after the self disembarkers, who generally cause the Customs line to back up. This time we got our luggage, walked right up to Customs and were processed immediately. No need at all, nor did we have, this new app. It seems that if you are arriving on a Sat or Sun, you could really use it, but otherwise it is not necessary. CTBob Posted January 23, 2017 #92 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Used this today at pier 19 in Port Everglades. The captain announced the pier we would dock at. Worked OK (Android) but there was no line anyway. Didn't work for a friend but he was just behind me as there was no delay. Disembarkation was very smooth! sapper1 Posted January 23, 2017 #93 Share Posted January 23, 2017 I have the app downloaded and ready to try out on our turnaround day in Fort Lauderdale in April. One poster mentioned that the captain announced which pier they were docking at. I have never heard an announcement of that sort so my question, in case it isn't announced, is ----how does one find out which pier they are docked at so as to complete the required information on the app in order to get approval online? I have never heard an announcement of that sort so my question, in case it isn't announced, is ----how does one find out which pier they are docked at so as to complete the required information on the app in order to get approval online? Just to check on the captain's announcement I went to Google Maps on my phone and it showed me exactly where I was. The only problem was that pier 19 was only shown as Carnival Cruise port on my phone. But it did show where pier 21 and 26 were so I took the captain's word. There were advertisements on the ship TV for the app so I guess they are pushing it. I don't really think it was any faster and will probably slow up as more people use it. Rare POA1 Posted January 23, 2017 #95 Share Posted January 23, 2017 If you have access to data, you can check the Port Everglades traffic board: https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/ If I recall correctly, you can also look out at the terminal building to see what's painted on it. Barring either of those, the shoreside employees who come on board will know.
Rare POA1 Posted January 23, 2017 #96 Share Posted January 23, 2017 ... I don't really think it was any faster and will probably slow up as more people use it. We passed hundreds of people by using the app last month when disembarking the Eurodam. Just based on prior experience, I estimate that we saved 20 to 30 minutes, minimum. It may slow down at some point in the future, but that would require a heck of a lot of tech savvy travelers. In that case, we'd fall back to the Global Entry card, which also has its own line.
