Soda in carry-on

I'm traveling on Carnival in a few weeks and plan on bringing the allotted 12 pack of soda. Does anyone know if that has to stay in the original cardboard container or can I put 12 loose cans in my carry-on?

I will suggest you place the cans in a bag of some sort to carry on. I have witnessed security opening the box to check that all the cans were indeed soft drinks rather than beer. I have also seen passengers attempting to carry said boxes on end as there was no way to close the box. Make embarkation a pleasant experience and be prepared. Just be sure you physically carry them on rather then place in your checked luggage.

We always carry our sodas on in a soft side cooler, a Carnival gift, that holds 9 cans, enough for a week. But I see a lot of people carry on the boxes of soda unopened.

You can put loose cans in your carry on, but it is more likely to be searched more closely to ensure that they are, in fact, soda. I did see some people strap a 12 pack on top of their carry on roller luggage with a bungee cord
