divaofdisney Posted November 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2016 Can anyone provide any insight as to whether or not there are any excursions or boat rides over to trunk bay from the cruise port?? There is only 1 excursion our cruise offers and its a very short 90 minutes on trunk bay- and we would love more time to spend there. Would appreciate any and all input on this. Bostongalpal16 Posted November 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2016 There is one on Tripadvisor/Viator that says 2.5 hours on the beach Sent from my iPhone using Forums
panda lvr Posted November 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2016 We are on the Royal Princess in Jan. and they only offer the same kind of trip that leaves in the afternoon. I've been researching too and came across the Viator one also. I've seen Viator offer the same trip on other sites, but the price is a bit more than if you book directly thru their site. They leave at 9AM, which means you catch the 10AM ferry. You get 2.5 hours at Trunk Bay and are back by 2PM. Think this is the best out there for cruisers who want an organized excursion not booked thru the ship.
Ms411 Posted November 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Sounds like the Viator excursion provides group transportation to the Red Hook ferry, rt ferry fare, rt taxi to Trunk Bay, and transportation back to ship. What is the advantage of doing the Viator excursion vs doing it on your own?
divaofdisney Posted November 18, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Unfortunately for us, our ship does not arrive till 11 which means we can't book it as the tour leaves at 11 AM- i am so sad. I am still searching I am not too comfortable do this on my own but we shall see.
Ms411 Posted November 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Post on your Roll Call to see if you can communicate with others on your cruise. There will probably be at least one person going to Trunk Bay so ask if you can tag along.
Bostongalpal16 Posted November 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) If anyone is interested TripAdvisor/Viator has a 10% off $150 or 15% off $250 for tours booked by Nov 20 Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited November 18, 2016 by Bostongalpal16

divaofdisney Posted January 2, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Hi there. We are on the same cruise and have been researching same options (although quite late). Anyway. Did you end up booking an excursion to trunk bay? Cost? Details ? Thanks. We are Helen and Larry from Ohio btw No we did not book thru ship because it really only allows 1.5 hrs there which is not enough time to really swim and snorkel. We are planning to do it on our own and that way we can control when we want to come back. Not ideal but I think we can manage it just fine. wheezedr Posted January 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Did St. John on our own last month off the Royal Princess. The trip is actually quite easy. Just mind your times. The taxis will be waiting at the port to go all over the island. Just make your way directly to the taxi stand and identify red hook as your destination. You will be put in the next one heading that way. Do not worry if others in your taxi are going elsewhere the drivers know where to drop off first. The ferries leave on the hour. I suggest you buy a return ticket to save time when coming back. At Cruz bay the system is basically the same, lots of taxis waiting and you let them know your destination. Trunk is a beautiful beach and also a place where taxis sit and wait. Leave yourself a little extra time for the return ride as the driver from Trunk may want to wait for a few extra fares. The return ferries also leave on the hour.
