Staggered Embarkation and Luggage

Searched the boards, but didn't see an answer to this question: If you're staggered embarkation time is late, can you drop off your luggage early? Leaving out of Galveston next week and wanted to drop of bags and site see a little before parking the car, if possible.

You can drop your bags off as soon as they start accepting them for incoming passengers. You just will not be permitted to enter the terminal until your chosen/assigned check-in time.
