Rare ghstudio Posted December 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2016 Perhaps I never noticed before, but on our just completed Equinox cruise, they had "dialysis at sea". That's a terrific offering which allows folks who need that treatment to still enjoy cruising. Not sure that enough are aware of the program and recognize Celebrity's commitment to expand cruising to as many as possible...including their attention to all of the various diets required by passengers. Cudos to Celebrity....
Fish Lover Posted December 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2016 I wasn't aware of this and I too think Celebrity should be applauded for the program. People should not have to be housebound because they have medical needs. Bravo!!
easyboy Posted December 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2016 A nice step to welcome back cruisers who now needs that treatment. Sent from my iPad using Forums
niccikatie Posted December 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2016 It is a great program! My DH is a dialysis nurse and we will likely be taking cruise through this program at some point in the future. Some of his co-workers have done so and enjoyed the trip, too! Here's a link if anyone has any questions about the program: http://www.dialysisatsea.com
H2OH! Posted December 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2016 It is a great program. Many dialysis patients have to pay out of pocket for the dialysis as their healthcare insurer wont cover.
riclop Posted December 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2016 It is very expensive.
OD2 Posted November 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Re: Dialysis at Sea/Notice to Ontario Canada residents: If you are an Ontario resident you can apply for a repayment of $210 per treatment. We just received today our rebate for 7 treatments on board 3 months after our return. We cruised August 2017 on Celebrity Eclipse to the Baltic from Southampton. Nice ship and nice cruise. We had our first experience of Dialysis at Sea, a company in Florida that provides dialysis on board. My husband is on home haemodialysis. But he was nervous to try to fly with all his equipment and have his supplies delivered to the ship, and it was his first time trying to cruise after his kidneys failed, so we decided to play it safe. If you cruise with Dialysis at Sea you will be well looked after. It is expensive, you have to book everything including your cabin through them at much more than full price, and the paperwork they require is a nightmare. But once on board everything goes smoothly. cb at sea Posted November 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2017 We are also doing home hemo....but I can't imagine anything but a suite having room for all the "stuff" needed. It's a massive amount of supplies for even a week!
