Freehike Posted December 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2016 Not surprising really. I love the smaller ships (Radiance is my favorite) but the Oasis class is simply a marvel of modern engineering and design. These are nothing less than floating cities at sea. Ken at the beach Posted December 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2016 If this is true then that's a new ship every year from 2018 to 2024. 2018 Oasis 4 2019 Quantum 4 ***M. Bayley referred to this as Quantum plus 2020 Quantum 5 2021 Oasis 5 2022 Icon 1 2023 Oasis 6 2024 Icon
Rare BillOh Posted December 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2016 One of these Oasis class ships will end up in the Far East then.
OfTheSeasCruiser Posted December 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 20, 2016 It will be a 14 year old design by that point... A bit surprising, IMO.

bwest the man Posted December 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2016 It will be a 14 year old design by that point... A bit surprising, IMO. Yeah, but there will be changes to it. Look at harmony made several changes to the base design to keep it very modern and up to date.
poncho1973 Posted December 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2016 The next step is to get more ports capable of having them dock. It's getting better, but it's far from great.

kwazi07 Posted December 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2016 The Oasis class is so amazing. With Oasis 6 it's going to be the largest class currently (and tied with the Vision class, which used to have six ships). Also, it'll be the widest range of ages...when Oasis 6 is introduced, Oasis will be 14! I'm also really excited to see what Royal comes up with Icon. I know there will be changes, I've just never seen a ship design hang around this long. But I guess that speaks volumes about just how revolutionary the Oasis Class is. I'm not complaining! :)

Yeah, even if you count Voyager and Freedom classes as one design, which they basically are, then only a 10 year span between the first and last

TravelerThom Posted December 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 26, 2016 Yeah, even if you count Voyager and Freedom classes as one design, which they basically are, then only a 10 year span between the first and lastConversely the first 747 flight was in Feb 1969 and current 747 schedules have planes coming off the production line through 2019 - fifty (50) years of production of the same basic type (with a lot of changes during that time of course)
