Bandboxer Posted December 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2016 There are a number of these cabins shown as available on the RC website when looking to book whether it be a balcony cabin or a junior suite. Are they likely to pose a problem and best avoided or in most instances are they going to prove OK to book? What are people's past experiences? Clarea Posted December 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2016 All depends on your neighbors. If they are quiet, no problem. If they are loud, then you will hear them much better with a connecting door.
setsail Posted December 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2016 Since the cruise in question has not happened there is no way to know about any problems
Rare island lady Posted December 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2016 The one and only (and last) time we had a connecting cabin, we had booked too late to get much of a choice. We settled for a connecting cabin. Won't happen again. Not that our situation would happen again on another cruise or ship...but that was enough for me. Family with 2-3 teenagers next to us. Could hear them all the time through that door. Of course lost our couch to a chair to make room for the door. But the worst was the darn kids kept trying to open that door. I finally yelled through the door to cut it out. "Not letting you in!!". That stopped them for the rest of the cruise. ;)
Bandboxer Posted December 23, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 23, 2016 Better then if you don't cruise whilst school is out.
jamesr3939 Posted December 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I think I might avoid a connecting cabin if possible. We just had an OS on the Allure and the living room had a door connecting to the JS next door. The couple next door were not party people. If I was sitting on the couch right next to the door I could hear normal conversations between them. It wasn't disruptive, but they weren't loud either. In a regular cabin, especially if the head of the bed is near the connecting door, and you had a rowdy neighbor; I could see it being very annoying. We are on Radiance - category D2 (#9244that connects with D1 - #9242 Thank you for your help - Happy Holidays My understanding is that both connecting "D" category staterooms have a three person sofa changed to a two person loveseat, and both connecting "E" category staterooms have a two person loveseat changed to a chair. You are correct, have had both D & E Cabins spending 200 nites of Brilliance/Serenade. Love full size sofa over the small love seat any day. Rare JamesEM Posted December 24, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2016 We had noisy neighbors and mentioned the problem to our cabin steward, he placed some blankets between the doors which helped muffle the sounds.
Bandboxer Posted December 24, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted December 24, 2016 Isn't in strange......whilst the majority of us are mindful of others rights to a peaceful existence others are intent on doing whatever they wish despite what effect it might have on other people. I have noticed of late that there seems to be a growing membership of "The F you brigade".......anybody else?

I disagree to a slight extent since to me this implies an intent to be annoying (or worse). I think most of these people are in the "Don't give a damn" brigade and are clueless that they are annoying. I also try to avoid connecting doors, but am under no illusion that the wall without a door will provide much protection from the neighbor who leaves their TV on LOUD and then goes out until 3am:eek:. I don't think these people are trying to be jerks - they are just clueless that they are.

Rare island lady Posted December 24, 2016 #14 Share Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) Is there a way you know which cabin has the sofa or the chair? We are on Radiance - category D2 (#9244that connects with D1 - #9242 Thank you for your help - Happy Holidays We were on Enchantment in a D1 and had a large chair in that connecting cabin. The connecting door was right next to it. All of the Radiance class ships I have been on have had a couch in a D1. If you look at the deck plans, and see a triangle in the deck plan of your cabin, you will have a couch. However, in your cabin 9244, I don't see the triangle, so you would not have a couch. Most likely a large chair, or possibly a love seat. The difference in a D1 versus D2 is the same configuration and size in most of them, it is just location that makes it different. And all connecting cabins have to give up something to make up for that door space. Edited December 24, 2016 by island lady
