Rare Victoria2 Posted January 6, 2017 #26 Share Posted January 6, 2017 There now seems a definitive answer in the Dress Code for Royal Court Theatre thread. Given that, I'm happy to accept your interpretation :) Thank you Teddy. :)
Rare Solent Richard Posted January 7, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 7, 2017 As [looking back at my photographs] did the majority of gentlemen in the restaurant [QG] when the advised code said nothing about 'optional', just 'Casual No jacket required' although the board was revised later in the afternoon to 'Casual No jacket required [no shorts or jeans]' [which as an aside would indicate shorts are permitted on a normal 'casual' code :)] The heavens didn't fall, no-one fainted at the sight of quite a few well dressed and jacketless chaps and Cunard life continued. "The heavens didn't fall" Maybe so, but as stated, the Majority of gentlemen wore jackets, the remainder couldn't be bothered.

Pennbank Posted January 8, 2017 Author #30 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Many passengers had shirts only in MDR on the last night of the mini cruise, some did have them hanging on their chairs, Edited January 8, 2017 by Pennbank

I don't think that they couldn't be bothered, it's not much of a bother to slip on a jacket, more that they welcomed a rare chance to be really comfortable while dining. David I can't believe that Cunard male passengers really feel more comfortable without jackets at dinner. Standards are standards after all.
