STP1972 Posted January 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2017 I just returned from 5-day on Paradise out of Tampa. For your reference here is a pic of their 2017 beer list with prices. Here are links to pictures of the 3 small craft brews, ready to drink at a shipboard bar. Stiltsville "Miami-Style" Pilsner (Florida) Sea Cow Milk Stout (Florida) Angel City IPA (Los Angeles) Stiltsville and Angel City became my go-to beers. Note that Guinness is no longer carried, and there was nothing from Cigar City Brewing in Tampa.
figdu Posted January 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2017 Interesting that the Cigar City beers are no longer there.
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2017 I understand that Carnival does rotate some local craft beers around based on what's close by for embarkation points. Does seem strange that out of Tampa they discontinued Cigar City. But that could also have been a non-renewal of contract with CC at CC's behest. I'll see if CC brews are on the Vista this weekend. But that too might be limited as Carnival now brews its own on board. Having drank several Saltwater Brewery beers (they're out of Del Rey Beach), I would whole heartedly recommend their Stout over Guinness any day. Surprised that Angel City is on board as last I heard they were only doing a few brews and they're more of a "hipster" spot in the Arts District in LA. STP1972 Posted January 9, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 9, 2017 I agree that the Sea Cow was an acceptable (albeit stronger) substitute for Guinness. Was nice to try it out a few times. Sent from my XT1080 using Forums mobile app
originalgeek Posted January 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2017 Cigar City is one of my very favorite breweries so I'm sad to see them go. I was happy to have them on the Conquest in July but didn't find any on Valor last month. That Sea Cow sounds good though so I'll give it a shot. I mean, hopefully, long before a year from April lol. Although that cruise is leaving from Tampa so I could stop in on the way to the port for a pint or 4. I hope to have some nice Dunedin brews this weekend at the Central Florida Highland games. Good stop on the way to FLL/Port Everglades though. 'course in Tampa you've got Cigar City and a number of other places popping up all along that coast line. 1gr8cruise Posted January 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2017 THANK YOU to original poster.....GOOD THREAD!!! I will definitely try a Sea Cow Stout, I usually order a Guinness every night at dinner..... Sorry, but I have not been impressed with the Red Frog Beers.....nothing more than Bud Light with color!!!! LOL I have had a few Cigar City Beers while buying cigars in Ybor city! OK, nothing jumped out at me. I would like to see Carnival with more variety...why not have the casino bar carry a broad range of craft beers....have a different menu just for that bar....not that hard to pull off! STP1972 Posted January 20, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted January 20, 2017 Yes, I tried Red Frog draft once on Paradise; the brew was, well, underwhelming. The canned and bottled craft beers were way better. Sent from my XT1080 using Forums mobile app
