You can order the beer unopened, but you can't get a can of coke on the Cheers program, only a glass from a can that may have already been opened. springs741 Posted January 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2017 I will have CHEERS on my cruise....Can I order a bottled beer or can of coke without having it opened..... Totally going to depend on the bartender. According to the rules of Cheers, it must be opened. But that doesn't mean you won't find a bartender that is willing to provided you with a closed beer. Same with the soft drink, whether it be Bubbles or Cheers, the rule is poured in a cup over ice. When hubby was still drinking diet coke he never had a problem getting the can unopened. He just asked respectfully. Sometime they were not cold but he was able to rotate them thru the minibar fridge.
Jwglenn25 Posted January 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2017 I have had the CHEERS on the past several cruises, while i have never asked for an unopened beer, i have never had an issue getting an unopened soda if i asked for it. As i think about it, the domestic beers come in the 16oz aluminum can and have the resealable lid. He could probably just ask for the lid and be able to drink it later anyway(assuming its not too much later) not sure how long it would reseal and still taste good. I don't believe they would give you a glass bottle unopened as they don't want to risk broken glass anywhere on the deck.
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 25, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2017 If the bottle is glass, bartenders will open it and pour into a glass. If bottle is aluminum, they leave the screw top on for you if you ask. Likewise, cans (Sam Addams, Boddington, Fosters, etc.)can be had unopened.
