stefyo Posted January 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2017 I usually book online at Carnival, will my PVP have a better rate if I call or offer OBC?
Rare Saint Greg Posted January 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Mine hasn't. I just find exactly what I want online and text it to him. I may look at travel agencies in the future. That's where supposedly you can get better deals. Edited January 27, 2017 by Saint Greg
ray98 Posted January 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2017 No....they are nothing more than travel agents who work for the company. Their job is to sell you what makes their employer profit.
firemanbobswife Posted January 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2017 No but they can see all the available cabins and it's so nice to have one person to call to answer any questions and handle any issues.
Je Souhaite Posted January 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2017 What anyone but a PVP can't have a lower ADVERTISED rate, I ALWAYS get a better rate than I can get from a PVP. It just can't be ADVERTISED. YMMV.
helene109 Posted January 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2017 I like having a pvp I just wanted to know where the laundry was so I just emailed her instead of searching myself Sent from my iPhone using Forums
kandrews18 Posted January 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2017 You get better on board credit from a TA... Sent from my iPhone using Forums

jh2360 Posted January 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2017 No and they are a pain in the a.. Careful now. If there is one thing people love here more than tablecloths, it's their PVP. Sent from my Pixel using Forums mobile app
thinfool Posted January 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2017 PVP's are Carnival employees. Not likely that they are going to bite the hand that feeds them.
Rare Saint Greg Posted January 30, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2017 No and they are a pain in the a.. Only when you aren't using them to book. When I was booking my own cruises he was calling me almost every day. Since I've allowed him to book them, he doesn't call....ever.
easyboy Posted January 30, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I usually book online at Carnival, will my PVP have a better rate if I call or offer OBC? Between your mentioned 2 manners of booking, Carnival's PVP is the better option than online.
LilMissScareAll Posted January 30, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2017 They have better access to seeing ALL deals available to members of your party. It saves me the time of having to check the rates using each of our VIP numbers. Also, when we had a linked but separate booking with my parents, we were able to change dates, upgrade rooms, and even call in each other's price drops. While I do all the research myself, I'll usually do a room hold and then call the PVP. We don't cruise that often unfortunately, but why not give these guys whatever credit/quota/etc that they get for booking us. If I do get a PVP (and ive been transfer to a few over the years) that's particularly agressive about calling. I'll tell them my status. Just looking, won't be booking for xX amount of time, call me of XX date, or flat out don't call me. They usually listen.
sailor05 Posted January 30, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I ALWAYS use a TA. An online one at that. And I ALWAYS have OBC along with great rates. This cruise coming up in June I have $300 OBC for each of the 2 cabins we're in which does not include the OBC from the Carnival CC we just got. Micahs Grandad Posted January 30, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 30, 2017 No but they can see all the available cabins and it's so nice to have one person to call to answer any questions and handle any issues. They have access to people we do not so they can solve problems quickly.
Havingfun2010 Posted January 30, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 30, 2017 PVP is a fancy word for CSR. They work for Carnival, not you. They have no control over prices and their primary job is to sell product. That's why they call you 10 times after each log-in.

Have always told our to never call unless he has something to tell us about an outstanding booking. We will call him when ready to book.

They have no control over prices and their primary job is to sell product. That's why they call you 10 times after each log-in. Not true. They are (for the most part) much more knowledgeable and can get things done a lot quicker and right the first time vs the regular CSRs that answer the 800 number. I call my PVP for everything and he makes it happen. He's been there since 1992 so knows what he is doing. Oh and he never calls me either. If you have that issue, take out your phone number in your online profile. It doesn't get any easier than that.
