Casino Gift Card question.

Has anyone used Gift Cards in the casino for table games? Could you load them on your S&S card, and then use them to play table games?

You can use them for literally anything Carnival has. You can preload them if you want. Personally I just rack up a bill then the last night I go to guest services and pay my balance off with the gift cards. That way I don't have to worry about cashing out, or watching my balance during my voyage.

Argh!, I didn't luck out.  I need a few cards since my final payment date is fast approaching.  I just went ahead and bought 2 AARP cards (my account and hubby's account) but we still have a balance.  I need some luck on the Allstate rewards site.  😭

Has anyone used their Executive member cc from big box club store?  I am curious if you would get the 3% rebate instead of 1% because it is travel.  I’m thinking that it is invoiced as a purchase from Allstate.

  • It won't show up as travel, it says allstate rewards on your credit card statement. Says general purchase category.

I don't know anything about that credit card, but I'm pretty sure it won't show up on your credit card statement as a purchase from Allstate directly. I think it shows up as being from Rewards Redemption. That's because a third-party company operates Allstate Rewards and handles all the orders. Not sure if that matters in your case or not.

Edited to add: I just saw that n6uqqq answered, too. We always buy them with my wife's Carnival MasterCard to get the points, so she's the one who sees the statement. AARP always used to appear as Rewards Redemption, so I assumed Allstate did too since it was the same company before AARP changed. I'd have to ask her to check her statement to see exactly what hers says for Allstate.

Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the cards to get back in stock?

There's no telling. They appeared this morning for the first time in a few days. Then sold out, then came back, then were gone a half-hour later. In years past, sometimes we'd wait a week or two. Just have to keep looking, or someone here usually posts when they're available.

So AARP does allow us to buy a second card per month using a spousal account, even though both people are on the same membership? I was going to try it, but wasn't sure it'd work.

I can confirm this does work. I paid the $14 annual and my spouse made an account using my membership. We have each bought a $100 card in the last 2 months (1 each in December and 1 each in January for a total of 4 between us)

I don't know about the credit card you are talking about, but I have the Bank of America Cash Rewards credit card which allows you to designate one category of expenditures to receive 3% cash back on.  I designate "Online purchases" for my BofA rebate,  and I do in fact get the 3% back on my purchases of gift cards through the Allstate website.  The three percent back is limited to $10,000 a year  in purchases ($2,500 a quarter), but that is still a nice cash rebate.   Fyi, the card has no annual fee, and a current sign up bonus of $200.

I will have to give this a try! Thanks

Yipeee! I FINALLY was able to log in and start entering codes. I'm up to 49,000 points. Thanks so much to all that have contributed! Much to my surprise, it kicked me out, and asked me to close my browser. Has that ever happened to anyone? I guess I was accumulating to many points over a very short period.   I dunno.....

Glad to hear you're finally able to get it going. Sounds like you might've had a common crash or error of some kind. Quite possibly your browser. I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps happening. Did you go back and try again?

I'm posting this only 30 minutes after yours and they're already sold out again.

No not yet. I was so elated to just log in, and then go to the page where you enter the promos and started accumulating points, that I didn't want to press my luck. Thanks for walking me/us through the process. It really helped out.

I don’t have any cards currently but I have had that problem recently. This past weekend I could see my balances, the weekend before I was getting that error.
