readytolose Posted February 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We really enjoyed Embassy Suites on 17th street. They have a complimentary managers reception in the evening with free drinks and snacks. There is also a very large breakfast buffet in the morning that is included in your price. It only takes a couple minutes to get to the port. It was much cheaper to take a taxi versus the hotel shuttle. We left around 10:30 and got to the port just a couple minutes later. molsonschooner Posted February 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We stayed at the Embassy last year. We got a good price, the room was ok, the breakfast was good and the managers reception hit the spot before dinner. The hotel is about a 5 minute drive to the port. If we can get a good price when we cruise this summer we will stay there again Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ashland Posted February 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Looking for hotel before our cruise. Flying in around 8pm. Would like a place near cruise port with a place to eat dinner and a breakfast. Also what time should we leave in morning to go to port. Thanks for info The above mentioned Embassy Suites is a good choice however you'll miss the manager's reception if only staying one night. We have stayed there many times but now we opt for Hyatt Place which sits just behind Embassy Suites...good buffet breakfast too and updated rooms. Both of these hotels sit next to the Harbor Shops with a Publix Market and several shops and has one of our favorite places to eat which is "Duffy's". Price out the Hyatt Place using: http://www.valuetrips.com for great rates. The hotel offers a shuttle to the port but opt for a taxi much quicker and cheaper. Best of luck and enjoy. Clarea Posted February 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I'd leave at a time that gets you to the port at 10:45am.

JoeRum Posted February 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I have stayed in FLL for many Cruise trips and many Business trips. The Holiday Inn Express is decent. Within walking distance of many restaurants and a CVS for last minute needs and of course Total Wine for the contraband. I skip the breakfast at the hotel and go across the street for a bagel and then next door to Starbucks for coffee. They have a private vendor shuttle service to and from the cruise port for a nominal fee. Another great place is the Crowne Plaza. Great hotel very close to the airport and the cruise port. There is a great Pizza place 2 blocks away and a great greasy spoon restaurant for breakfast a few blocks away. JoeRum
docd Posted February 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Holiday Inn Express Ft. Lauderdale Cruise-Airport or Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street Both very close and inexpensive. Walking distance to Walgreens and restaurants. Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port Hotel is another option, but more expensive.
Cigar King Posted February 1, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 1, 2017 You don't say which city you are staying in, however we have stayed at the Doubletree in Miami. You might try the roll call for your cruise and see where your shipmates are going to be staying.
Desert Cruizers Posted February 1, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We stayed at the Hyatt Place post cruise following our 2015 Canada/NE cruise and would stay there again.
Rare grouchomarx Posted February 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I vote Embassy Suites too. The free drinks in the evening are nice, as is the free breakfast in the morning. Easy access to convenience stores and a nice Italian restaurant nearby, Bistro Mezzaluna. Have also stayed at Renaissance a few times and that was fine too. Lauderdale Cruise-Airport If you are talking about the Holiday Inn Express on 17th be advised that they just started a major addition to the hotel in December. I don't think it will be completed until fall 2017. They are open while under construction but we opted not to stay there this coming March. There is another HIE on State Rd 84. RCI Cruisers 004 Posted February 2, 2017 #19 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Embassy suites , we've tried others and always wished we had just gone to Embassy. They offer a shuttle to the ship, or you can grab a taxi out front. No sense in hurting over to the ships, they don't usually let you into your room before 1 o'clock .
