geoduderob Posted February 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2017 Just finished my cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas. We stopped in Costa Maya as one of our ports of call. We did an ATV excursion and that was ok. It would have been better in a smaller group. The second part of the excursion was to spend time on the beach. they took us back to town to a what we thought was a resort but not sure to spend time on the beach. when we arrived we were greeted and the nan said he was going to be our waiter and escorted us the the beach. as we sat relaxing we were approached by many, many, many locals trying to sell us stuff. Finally we just got out stuff and went back to the cruise pier. We arrived at the pier looking around the shops and then wanted lunch. The food is way over priced. we had nachos, a chimichanga, a order of guacamole, and 4 diet cokes and our bill was a $100.00 usd. be careful of your excursions and eat on the ship as thus is just a tourist trap. tallyho8 Posted February 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2017 You should have reviewed your excursion ahead of time. Costa Maya has many great places to eat and drink at cheaper places than most other ports. There are many excellent reviews of places to go in this forum.
