sweets2323 Posted February 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Hi, I will be cruising with two of my kids.. ages 8 and 14. I know I want to see the planes near the beach and the kids would love it. But, how would I know what time the planes would come? Are there other things we can do as a family with kids? Petedrummond7 Posted March 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2017 Same here, we have an 11 year old. The planes sound fun to see but we'd like something besides that to do. We took a snorkeling/catamaran the last time we were there so we'd like to see more of the island.

gtaylor Posted March 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2017 12 Metre has a stated age restriction of 12 and up. I've talked with them about this, and was told that they will make accommodations if, for instance, you are a boating family and the kids have experience. gary

shipturtle Posted March 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2017 Flight information is listed on sxmairport.com. I have heard to go in the afternoon for the larger planes. Do your kids like Star Wars? We're planning our day around visiting the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit in Phillipsburg.
belsoboogie Posted March 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2017 We took our then 8yr old and then 2yr old to Maho Beach in 2013. We got there about 10am and stayed until about 3pm. The kids enjoyed the day watching the planes come in and out - especially my then 8yr old as he's a plane enthusiast. We saw both large and small planes coming in and a plane take off where it was blowing harsh air - was very neat to see. We also enjoyed the bar on the beach, decent food and it was nice not to have to worry about the kids still being a little sandy from the beach. One major tip I will give is the water comes pretty far in on the sand, so don't be like us and plop off of your stuff down only to get it soaked when the waves come in. True story. Totally happened. And, not one person bothered to warn us. :) We're actually heading back there on a cruise this year and of course my now 10yr old wants to go back. I believe someone already posted the plane schedule above for you. Let me know if you have any questions. happy to answer!
