WashyWashyHappyHappy95 Posted February 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Max level of available cabins for any category is always 15, no matter how far in advance you're looking. There are way more than 15 inside studios, etc. Why is that?
Rare BirdTravels Posted February 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2017 The average user of NCL.COM can make a decision based on 15 options. More, and they will become indecisive and wont commit. Less, and they feel that there are not enough choices. It's basic user interface design.
WashyWashyHappyHappy95 Posted February 12, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Interesting. So is there any way to accurately determine the actual amount of available cabins in any category? In case you couldn't tell I'm trying to scout cruises that are likely to experience a price drop due to being undersold after final payment. lake5298 Posted February 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2017 ...I'm trying to scout cruises that are likely to experience a price drop due to being undersold after final payment. Another reason for NCL to only list 15 of each cabin type...
WashyWashyHappyHappy95 Posted February 12, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Well you can still make a somewhat good determination of how undersold a sailing is. If multiple categories all have 15 cabins available, then that's a pretty good sign. If most categories have less than 15, or have switched over to GTY only, you can tell the ship is filling up. Rare sid_9169 Posted February 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2017 I've found that they usually give you a choice of the 15 least desirable cabins in any particular category, even if others are available... I usually call and inquire about other cabins and make my decision based on the cabins actually open.
cheaperts Posted February 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2017 I always use a TA, they can look for the cabin/location I want even if I can't see it. I also watch a certain "fish" site for drops and I believe it a gives an indication of how sold a cruise is
computerworks Posted February 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2017 I've found that they usually give you a choice of the 15 least desirable cabins in any particular category, even if others are available... That's kind of an upside down assessment. Norwegian has a cabin rating system...that takes into account a variety of attributes, such as location, variations, etc. Due to layout constraints on the website, they only show the best 15 available cabin numbers, based on that rating system. If you see 15, that means there are more choices avail, but they will not show online. If you see less than 15, that means they are the only choices left in that category. The ability to search by cabin number has been removed from the retail website An NCL Rep or your TA can view ALL available cabins at any time. Rare insidecabin Posted February 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2017 You used to get more on .co.uk and that was enough for a cabin watch. They merged the web interface so now you have to find somewhere else to look for long cabin lists try a few TA sites I use one of the cabin clearance places that might be showing all of them, I stop counting at 80 cabins in a single grade. As for some likely candidates Star might be worth a watch the current problems may scare people off. TAs and reloc's are often good late candidates. The South America have been getting real cheap after final. Another option is to use one of the price trackers sites and just look for all drops. There is some silly high pricing out there across a lot of lines so it is a waiting game if flexible.
