ErinFreels Posted February 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2017 My husband and I are cruising for the first time for our honeymoon on the carnival victory. I've read a lot of threads about free things, tips and tricks. As well as secret areas (doorways) on the ships. Is there anything anyone could suggest for the Victory specifically? HolyCityGamecock Posted February 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Maybe that's all they can afford Riclop, no need to be a Judgey McJudgey face. First cruise: Carnival Victory, 4/17/2017
ErinFreels Posted February 22, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Thanks HolyCityGamecock! We chose this particular cruise, not for the ship itself but for the dates sailing! Trying to juggle, child care, pet care, work schedules, etc...and on a budget, you kinda get what you can get! Plus, the ship itself has been going through some renovations and is set to be completed by the end of march 2017. And our cabin has already been updated! So super excited for that! HolyCityGamecock Posted February 22, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We also booked the Victory for our honeymoon as it was super affordable even for a balcony and it fit our post-wedding schedule perfectly. orlandobull Posted February 22, 2017 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Victory was my first cruise ever in 2013. I am hooked now. My wife and I did a princess cruise for our honeymoon, cruising is so nice after the stress of the wedding. Enjoy!
ErinFreels Posted February 22, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted February 22, 2017 You do the same. Did you find out anything about the Victory that is secret? First cruise: Carnival Victory, 4/17/2017 Here goes, I found out the there is a public "balcony" that most guests don't know about...decks 5,6,7,9 & 10. The map is on google. The entire ship will be updated by the end of march 2017. You can order 1 or more of anything on the dinner menu in the dining room. The lanyard and deck of cards are free from the casino and the pursuers desk. Always check the fun times for drink specials for the day. Also ordering the drinks in a regular cup and not a souvenir cup will save money. Definitely want to go to the formal dinner. Room service is free, 24 hours, but if you want a hot pizza or French fries that will be extra...however if you want pizza at 3 am then just walk and get some...they're open 24 hours. The serenity deck...is 18 and over. And I've been told to not miss any of the shows! And last but not least...(this tid bit of important advise came from my parents who have been on quite a bit of cruises) Under no circumstances what so ever...DONT courtesy flush your room toilet while on it! Jgilbert813 Posted February 22, 2017 #18 Share Posted February 22, 2017 First off, congratulations! :D May you life together be filled with many adventures.I have found that there are nice and not nice things on every boat. We have never sailed on a ship and felt it was just perfect. The "secret decks" are great when you are coming into port. I loved standing out there and watching as we pulled in. While its nothing secret...my advice - Don't try to see and do everything. It's just not possible. Enjoy what you can and let the rest go. We enjoy the comedy club (go early) and ALL the live music every night, they have it playing in the lobby, at the casino, and piano bar. Try something new everyday. Something new at dinner, a new drink, a new experience. That's the beauty of cruising - endless choices. Enjoy.
ErinFreels Posted February 22, 2017 Author #19 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Jgilbert813...thanks for the great advise! I just don't know how my husband is going to keep me away from the food! Lol. I'm so excited and just want to make sure that we don't overlook or miss something that we'd rather do more than something else, from simply just not knowing! KYWEST1 Posted February 22, 2017 #20 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We'll be on the same cruise. Booked on Lido (not sure if it will be updated tho). We are 2 moms taking our 20 yr old college roommate daughters for their spring break. We're staying in South Beach the night before. Can't wait for Key West and Cozumel...great stops! It should be a fun spring break crowd on this cruise

Sent from my iPhone using Forums With regards to not missing out.....Each night take a look at the Funtimes and see what looks good for the next day. We use a highlighter and go right down the list. We know we may not make it to all of them, but it gives us an idea. At night, we always try to get a few pictures taken every night on the ship. We have had the best pictures taken of us on a cruise ship. It costs nothing to have them taken, and you only buy what you like. When you go to look at them the next day, it can be great fun to see how some people pose, and how happy everyone is. Take time to talk to the crew. Especially bartenders (if you visit the same bar often) dealers in the casino, and entertainment staff. They have great stories, and usually seemed genuinely happy to talk to you. I have learned a lot about other countries and cultures with these conversations. You can miss out on shopping talks, and "free" spa tours. For us, they all seem to end up as sales pitches and a waste of time. A lot of "sales" in the fun shops aren't worth the time or crowds - enter those at your own risk ;)

pshortie265 Posted February 26, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 26, 2017 Congratulations on your wedding! My mom and I just got off the Victory last week and loved it!! If you are on the Key West/Cozumel itinerary especially you should sign up for Your Time Dining. The port times are weird on this itinerary so you'll want the flexibility. Plus it's easier to get a table for two (if you want). Also the CD, Matey, was really great! It was his first cruise on the Victory when we were there so he should still be there. Otherwise, if you follow the advice from the other posters here and elsewhere on the board, you'll be in good hands! Enjoy it!
