JAMESCC Posted February 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2017 I think this is a great idea, I always thought on the new ships especially Anthem the categories are too confusing. I fear though the end up making it in even more confusing. I hope certain suites don't lose any benefits either. We'll see I guess, start positive. 39august Posted February 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Scary! Last time I remember this happened, the D1 cabins aft became unavailable to book with just two pax.
nolesrule Posted February 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2017 These kind of improvement preview announcements almost always tend to not be improvements except for the bottom line. Kinda makes me wonder what they plan to do with Junior Suites, which seem to be the category that causes the most confusion.
Rare John&LaLa Posted February 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Scary! Last time I remember this happened, the D1 cabins aft became unavailable to book with just two pax. I can see a new sub category for oversized balconies

nolesrule Posted February 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2017 We will see how the IT department manages this little change. If we're lucky we'll be able to snag a Royal Suite for the price of an interior. ;)
CruisinCouple5414 Posted February 27, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2017 If we're lucky we'll be able to snag a Royal Suite for the price of an interior. ;) Lets hope! I was able to grab an Owners Suite on Oasis for next month cheaper than a balcony!

DCT61 Posted February 28, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2017 According to the "flyer" floating around, the Sky Loft suite will now be in "sky class". If that's the case, we're going to cancel. The price difference for a CLS and a SLS is too big for them to both be in the same category.
luckyinpa Posted February 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2017 id be happy if their PDFs match their site. kids special meals are 2 bucks difference. i hope they dont change existing reservations. that will make people mad

I booked the Sky Loft suite for Oct 1st this year when we were on the Liberty last summer. I'm not going to pay the price for that room if I lose the drink package, specialty dining and genie service...much less the Star class boarding and disembarkation....
kccrzr Posted February 28, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Seems like extremely poor timing since it will be announced right before the new deployments are scheduled to be released.

We recently booked a SLS and will be upset if it's not star class.

FUN33 Posted February 28, 2017 #18 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Just viewed the official document - they will now have a new category for large balconies in any cabin that has multiple size balconies. Will have to wait and see how much the up charge will be.
Ken at the beach Posted February 28, 2017 #19 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Seems like extremely poor timing since it will be announced right before the new deployments are scheduled to be released. It's actually perfect timing since the changes aren't going into effect until May 2018 so it won't affect any current reservations.
Ken at the beach Posted February 28, 2017 #20 Share Posted February 28, 2017 It not just the Skyloft suite that is no longer Star class it is also all the 2 bedroom Aquatheatre suites as well. Only 2 Star class suites on Harmony. The Royal Loft and The 4 bedroom suite. 3 Star class suites on Allure and Oasis. Royal Loft, Grand Loft and Owners Loft. Looks like it's down to 1 genie per ship. I can see a lot of the premium cabin prices increasing.

Dear OurUsualBeach, That is not fully correct. The existing Sky Loft suites in the Oasis Class have been RE-NAMED to Star Loft Suites and are STILL in the STAR class However all the Aquatheatre suites are gone, as per the FAQ So, with 6 Suites in total on the Oasis Class, that seems like 2 Genies per ship Warm Regards, Panjabi

Wouldn't that leave 4 Star suites on Harmony and 5 on Oasis and Allure? Still probably 2 Genies.

Unfortunately Captain Tito, every time Royal Caribbean re-catorizes their cabins, the only people who benefit are the shareholders of Royal Caribbean. I've not yet seen any that benefit the consumer. Just a way to increase profit margins.
