AliceIn Posted March 1, 2017 Author #52 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Yes I would book a smoke-free cruise. Yes, I'd be willing to pay a small premium to guarantee no smoking on board.
boopsahoy Posted March 1, 2017 #53 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Depends on the ship. 1. Yes 2. No....shouldn't have to. If anything, the cruises that allow smoking should cost more. :p If they cost more we should be able to smoke on our balconies....
beau4 Posted March 1, 2017 #54 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Absolutely not, Fine with me to make one or two ships non-smoking; I just wouldn't sail on them. To each his/her own. I would pay more to smoke on the balcony. Miss that the most and wish something could have been worked out like opposite sides or aft only. And yes, I obey the rules and smoke only in designated areas.

negn Posted March 1, 2017 #57 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Many years ago DH and i did a Carnival cruise on Paradise which was completely non-smoking. That did not last long as I heard that nonsmokers did not gamble or drink as much . No money to be made there
edenrayne Posted March 1, 2017 #58 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Carnival tried this a few years ago and couldn't fill the ship. The Paradise is now same as the rest of the fleet. Sent from my LGL62VL using Forums mobile app Was just going to post this message about the Carnival Paradise, then I read yours. I would be one to book a smoke free ship and No I would not pay more for the cruise! Only problem was, this ship repeated the same itinerary and I for one do not do repeat cruises to the same ports. Maybe the same was true with this ship and so it was not a paying venture.

Sent from my LGL62VL using Forums mobile app It was more than a few years ago and the thinking about smoking was different than today Hey I remember being asked if I wanted an airplane seat in the smoking or non smoking section too Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Two Wheels Only Posted March 1, 2017 #60 Share Posted March 1, 2017 If they cost more we should be able to smoke on our balconies.... It isn't your balcony. It's their balcony. If smokers are willing to cover the cost of cigarette damage..... ...wish something could have been worked out like opposite sides or aft only. It wouldn't make a difference.. Both of these fires are believed to have been started by cigarettes.

cage keeper Posted March 1, 2017 #62 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Another Yes, No. As a former smoker It doesn't bother me that much except on Breakaway while actually being in the casino. I can only stay in there about 20 minutes and then I just start wheezing. Would love to spend more time in there, just can't.
luvtheships Posted March 2, 2017 #63 Share Posted March 2, 2017 How about 2 casinos? Smoking. Non smoking And Up on deck a plexiglass square that is not right next to pool Like they have on the ba but in some far off corner of a special space in an open area that has plexiglass on all 4 sides and is about 15 feet high with no roof? When it rains they could put a removable kind of thing on top with a few holes so the smoke can still escape This space could be 20x20 Yes it would take up valuable space where they could perhaps sell trinkets but they could offset that with a bucket of beer type of thing in the plexiglass cube and maybe even a few slot machines Additionally they could actually build it like those moveable globe things that rccl has on the new ships and just raise it several hundred feet above the ship They could even take ressies for space in the cube or offer it as a perk There are so many solutions you just need to think outside the box Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ClevelandCruisin Posted March 2, 2017 #65 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Yes No They would never fill the ship and prices would be through the roof for a non smoking cruise!
ljrfrm Posted March 2, 2017 #66 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Yes, we would definitely book. I don't think we'd pay a bunch more for a smoke-free sailing, but would definitely entertain it if it were just a little higher priced. We cruised once about 13 years ago on the Carnival Paradise when it was completely non-smoking. We loved it and I wish NCL had that option. I loved being able to go into the casino and spend time there without the smoke. The Paradise however discontinued this as they couldn't bring in enough revenue to keep it going, so I won't hold my breath for this to happen. NMLady Posted March 2, 2017 #67 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I wonder if NCL ever looked into having specific cruises be 100% non-smoking? If they did: 1. Would you book one? 2. Would you be willing to pay a premium to book a cruise that was 100% smoke-free? 1. Definitely! 2. No

karoo Posted March 2, 2017 #70 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Definitely would book a non smoking, but wouldn't pay extra. Depending on the region and the passenger make up there seem to be less and less smokers. On the cruise I'm on at the moment the Deck 7 loungers on the non smoking side are all taken by 7.30, there are always spares on the smokers sides. Although I saw some passengers taking loungers around to the non smoking side the other day. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare uneamie Posted March 2, 2017 #72 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I am an x-smoker who hates the smell of smoke now. I don't mind it if I am passing by a smoker but I don't like being in a room filled with it anymore. That said, when we were on our last cruise on the Gem...there was NO smoking anywhere except in designated areas outside. So I am not sure I would really need a non smoking cruise. That said, I hear our new cruise on the Breakaway allows smoking in the casino. Blah! ugh!
klr6773 Posted March 2, 2017 #73 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Yes. My dream aft balcony stateroom on the Pearl Alaska sailing was diminished a bit because smokers frequently congregated right below us and the smell wafted. We found it unpleasant. Shouldn't have to pay more ,but I guess we would weight the premium. Can anyone tell me what happened if people were caught on the Paradise smoking? Were they taken off the ship or just wrist slapped? Seems hard to control short of guests turning other people in..

Oh yes, I can tell you about the Paradise.......we were docked in St Thomas several years ago with the Paradise docked next to us. Several people were removed from the ship due to smoking. I think they were a part of a group that included a few cabins. We were shocked that they removed them....but they did. Rules are rules I guess. That said, I can't believe that anyone would book an expensive vacation on a non smoking ship if you are a smoker. Very brazen behavior............guess they learned a hard lesson.
