LewLewBelle Posted March 6, 2017 #126 Share Posted March 6, 2017 Take half as many clothes. Take more money than you think you will need. Spend $20 in the casino to remind yourself why you dont gamble. Join in a Lido game, join a line dance. Get up early and watch a sunrise. Find the "wind tunnel" door at the front of the ship and take silly pictures! (Our 1st cruise on the Paradise we spent probably 20 min every morning doing dumb stuff at those doors!) And HAVE FUN and TRY NEW THINGS! What is wind tunnel door? Sounds like something we would like to try. Is there one on the Pride?
LewLewBelle Posted March 6, 2017 #127 Share Posted March 6, 2017 What type of holds and for what amounts. This is what makes me nervous. Not knowing how much money I need to set aside in this certain account. First time cruiser and I'm very OCD and a planner and like to have exactly what we need in this one account so I don't have to be transferring money throughout the trip. $200 hold or you can take cash and not use a card :)

tvlworm Posted March 7, 2017 #130 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Yes you can just put cash on the S&S you do not have to give them a card. We always just put cash so there is no holds on any of our cards. Hi! Hoping you can clarify, normally I use a cc for sign/sail but we are staying a few days pre-cruise so I'm nervous about any hotel holds blocking my full available balance. I have already added cruise cash to my cabin to cover our onboard spending, do I also need to do a cash deposit? Thanks! qzyksw Posted March 7, 2017 #135 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Sorry- what is FTTF? Faster to the Fun-- A pass you can buy to get on the ship quicker, on the tenders quicker, and they have a dedicated line for you at the pursuer desk. Carnival only offers a limited number of passes to purchase.

Cruise Envy Posted March 7, 2017 #138 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Yes you can. Just be sure to leave on the floor in your bathroom to get fresh ones for the next day You can also turn in a used towel for a fresh one at the towel hut on the Lido if you don't want to wait for your cabin steward to do it for you. We usually do this when leaving the Lido so we don't back to the cabin with a wet towel.

dawnjam1 Posted March 7, 2017 #141 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Here is what I would stress..... First, if traveling with kids think of a way to keep their things together or they end up everywhere. I take each kid one of those square fabric totes that flatten and make each of them keep their treasures in them. They also get a small backpack for excursions and a seperate bag to hold unused electronics or just junk they accumulate. I take 5 mins every day to get things back in order. Those wrist card holders are 10 times easier to use than lanyards for adults. The lower you are in the ship the easier it is to get off at port. Plus less movement. The magnets that stick to the wall can be life savers. Because of the humidity in the bathroom, suits dry much faster in the room on those hooks. Plus you can use them as a command center for the family and papers. Dry erase markers are great for leaving notes on the mirror for family members or cabin mates. Over the door shoe hanger is the best for toiletries and...shoes... Take a few clothes pins and place them at the bottom of the the otherwise swaying shower curtain to keep it from sticking. To you that is. Use cash on your Sign and Sail. The holds can be a headache. Or a CC. Just not a Debit Card. I am OCD and very budget oriented. I use a similar Dave Ramsey method of cash and envelopes. Keeps my worry down. Being an extra old used gift card with a magnetic strip and leave it in the slot that controls the lights so that your electronics can charge. Take a small plastic nail organizer from the hardware dept and put all sorts of meds like cold, advil, stomach, etc in each compartment then close and label the top with sharpie as to what is what. Cuts the size down and comes in handy. Do not forget Bendryl as it can also calm stomach as well as counter any reactions. I just rubber band it and go. You only need a few pairs of shoes... my downfall. Take a sweater. It is chilly inside and out and with a sunburn even worse. Take EXTRA sunscreen and bug repellant. Ladies.....spend your clothing budget in cute bathing suit coverups, suits and a few maxi dresses. Much more likely to get worn. And easy to pack lighter. One or two nicer dresses for Formal night or something that can be interchanged is good. Re: one formal skirt and two different tops. Bring Tennis Shoes. You don't want to miss anything cause you dont. And bring two pairs of flip flops in case of a blowout. Not cheap or even as easy to find as you might think....from experience. Two words.....AIR FRESHENER I know this sounds like a lot of stuff but we each carry our own suitcase and have one small we roll on with the room extras and a few sodas and wine. Vacation doesn't seem like vacation if you cruise as close together as we do and have a huge mess! pozbaird Posted March 7, 2017 #142 Share Posted March 7, 2017 A tip I would give is that the blue towels (or yellow Serenity ones) you get on board are available to buy as brand new, beach towel sized items. Instead of buying a souvenir T Shirt, or some sort of other trinket - invest in a Carnival beach towel. We bought a blue one and a yellow one. Use them for the gym, the best quality towel I have ever used and a brand-new freshly sealed Carnival towel is probably the best 'souvenir' I have bought on holiday. When your T Shirt you bought has died a death after one wash, the Carnival beach towel is indestructable...

auscgguysgirl Posted March 7, 2017 #145 Share Posted March 7, 2017 I have not seen that mentioned ... but for any new cruisers ... sticky notes and a marker ... You can leave a sticky for your room steward to LEAVE all of your towels animals each day in your room and they will set them aside until the end of the cruise. Silly little quirk ... I like to keep them all as long as possible.
