schul296 Posted March 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2017 We will be in port in April from 8AM-5PM...we'd like to stop at Timothy Hill for photos & then head to a beach for possible snorkeling, SUP, beach bars, etc...what beach(es) would you recommend for this? Not crazy crowded but not too secluded where there are no facilities/food&bev available. Beach & beer is needed! :) THANK YOU!
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Stop at Timothy Hill is 5 minutes tops. Just have your taxi driver go on down the hill to Carambola Beach. for a bit more "rustic" beach, you can try Ship Wreck. These two are on the Caribbean side. At Timothy Beach/Frigate Bay there's a whole strip of beach clubs and resorts. Also on the Caribbean side.
toes_in_sand Posted March 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I would recommend Cockleshell Beach. The beach is located at the southern tip of the island and overlooks Nevis. Approx distance is 25 minutes by taxi, Shared taxi is $7.00 USD per person each way. You can either choose Reggae Beach- the beach area is okay, lots of rocks in the water and water shoes is a must. Beer, chairs, food and restrooms available. OR: The opposite end of the beach is Spice Mill Restaurant. Nicer classier beach bar and restaurant, new chairs and the water has no rocks. Beer, chairs, food and restrooms available. The place beside Spice Mill rents the SUP equipment. South Friars and Cockleshell Beach drive by Timothy Hill. Just ask the driver to make a stop at the hill.
Rare mitsugirly Posted March 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2017 We have been to Cockleshell and also Friars. I have reviews of both of them, listed in my signature line. Just expand the signature and click on the link. There's TONS of pictures. It might help you decide. We personally enjoyed Friars more. If you have never seen a black sand beach, right down from Carambola on Friars has it and it is the most amazing thing ever. It sparkles like diamonds in the sand. So pretty!
