RC Mariner of Seas or Carnival Liberty

I've been on 2 Carnival Cruises with DH and would love to take my son possibly the rest of the step family. My son will be 15, other kids are 15, and 13 Girls. I'm considering Royal Caribbean Mariner or Carnival Liberty.

1. On the other Carnival Ships the pools closed early (Triumph, Victory)

1. Do they close early (meaning 4-5pm, they almost rip the deck chairs from under you, I'm assuming their pushing us off to dinner) on either of these 2 ships? Do the kids have an option of swimming later?

2. Anyone ever travel with just one kid? Mine is pretty outgoing, I'm hoping he'll make some friends or his stepsisters can't go.

3. Does Royal Caribbean have the ice cream like on Carnival?

4. Can anyone expand on the nightlife (I know Liberty is New I think it compares to Conquest) like are both teen center/discos about the same?

Thanks for your help!
