angiegal Posted March 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2017 Background first, we've been on 6 Carnival Cruises, all but 1 have been 5 days. Our schedules make it hard to take longer cruises. I'm trying to find a cruise that will work with my two adult children's schedules and my husbands. The only thing I'm coming up with is the Sensation from Miami over Columbus Day weekend (Thursday to Monday, I believe) with stops in Key West and Cozumel Plus. It will be my husband and I, our 22 year old son and (soon to be) daughter in law, our 19 year old daughter and our 3 year old son. I see cruises as a time to relax and am in bed or on my own balcony by 10. My 19 year old is a lot like me: she's more likely to be reading a book than partying. The older two will definitely be out drinking and having fun into the wee hours. Hubby is a mix. He likes the casino, karaoke, and and a few drinks. The littlest guy will hang out with me or try the kids programs. So.... Having said ALL of that, how much of a "party boat" atmosphere will we encounter? I honestly don't remember much that I thought was out of control or offensive on any of the past cruises. I have certainly seen my share of really drunk passengers, people making out in hot tubs, etc. But something about this cruise makes me feel like its going to be a different vibe. The ports, a holiday weekend and leaving from Miami I guess??? Am I just over thinking it?
sturderick Posted March 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I think you'll have a great time! I'm an over thinker so I totally get it haha. Enjoy your cruise :)
asalligo Posted March 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I am afraid you may be right, a short cruise over the weekend and with a stop in Key West. There is going to be some serious drinking on this boat. You can minimize your exposure to it though, just make your days early to rise and early to bed and most of the carousing will be later in the evening. If the kids want a late night snack I might get it for them or order room service while they remain in the room. Most people are still nice even when wasted. But you actually don't even ever have to see it if you don't want to! Sent from my LG-H810 using Forums mobile app
hotsauce126 Posted March 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2017 Well if you mostly like to stay on your balcony I don't imagine there's gonna be much of a "party boat" atmosphere out there. From my experience anyway the behavior of the passengers doesn't change much, just the age
angiegal Posted March 14, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I think I am just thinking way too much about it. My husband said watching the pier runners in Cozumel will be fun ;)
KPfromCT Posted March 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I think at that time of the year you should be fine. You will have a great cruise!! Enjoy!!

My husband said watching the pier runners in Cozumel will be fun ;) He's absolutely right. Columbus Day isn't a huge party weekend anyway. Key West is also a port you usually leave early so if I wanted to party, I would pick a shorter cheaper cruise. There will be some partiers but you'll be fine. We took 4 kids on spring break and we had no problems. Pier runners are my fav!!
bnorris10 Posted March 14, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I think you will be fine ... Honestly, I go on 3 day ones frequently and even with what people would call a Booze Cruise it is really not that crazy ... I mean if your in the bars late at night maybe but we really never see any problems just people having fun
cheermomof2girls Posted March 14, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 14, 2017 We have taken a 4 night and a 5 night and neither were what i would consider booze cruises. Our kids were with us on the 4 day and no issues. We are leaving over Easter Weekend for a 4 day and I think it will be fine.
SadieN Posted March 14, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) We've been on some wild cruises on Princess and Carnival. (The Princess cruise had a large group that was no longer allowed to book on Carnival [emoji33]) There's always a quiet spot available. On the Fantasy Class ships the slide area on 11aft is way quieter than the Lido pool. At the buffet, try seating on the wing decks behind the pizza and bar areas, overlooking the Serenity Deck. krehberg Posted March 14, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I think the time of year is key here...if you go at a time when kids are out of school (as well as college students), then the shorter cruises might be a party boat atmosphere. I took a 3 night cruise on the Valor from Port Canaveral last November (mid november before holidays) and it didn't feel anything like a party boat
