zlacruising Posted February 19, 2018 #2826 Share Posted February 19, 2018 I got this info from a friend. Go cart info is good! Norwegian Cruise Line is celebrating the float out of its* newest ship,*Norwegian Bliss, which features the largest race track at sea. The 167,800-ton 4,000-passenger ship touched water f or the first time February 17, when it was floated out from* the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, marking* the latest milestone in its construction. It is now berthed at the* shipyard's outfitting pier to be fitted with its funnel. Norwegian Bliss, the third member of*Norwegian Cruise Line's Breakaway Plus Class,* will remain at Meyer Werft until its passage along the river Ems to the North Sea,* which is scheduled for the second weekend in March. In the meantime, the final* stage of construction work will be carried out, and the 1,600 members of crew will start their training onboard, ready to welcome the first passengers in mid-April, immediately after delivery. Purpose-built for Alaska cruises, the vessel will spend its first summer sailing* weeklong Alaska itineraries from its homeport of Seattle. In autumn 2018,* Norwegian Bliss will feature a series of three Pacific Coastal, Mexico and* Panama Canal voyages before arriving at its winter homeport of Miami,* from which it will offer seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailings. Highlights of the ship include The Waterfront area with 13 restaurants* and bars, and the largest go-kart racetrack at sea, which is 40 percent* bigger than the track on sister ship Norwegian Joy. The electric karts will* travel at four speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Other top-deck attractions* include a laser tag court and two high-speed waterslides, including one that* extends over the side of the ship. A new cabin category for solo travelers features 82 inside staterooms with* virtual ocean views, and the exclusive suites-only The Haven is double the* size of the complex on its other sister ship Norwegian Escape, with 80 staterooms.* The 20,000-square-foot Observation Lounge spans the entire forward section of* the ship, offering unparalleled 180-degree views. Plus, to tie in with the Alaska* itineraries, the hull features a marine life design, painted by Wyland, an artist* renowned for his whale murals. Onboard entertainment will include the Broadway production, "Jersey Boys,"* "Prohibition, the Musical" and an original musical being produced exclusively* for Norwegian Cruise Lines by Tony Award-winning director and choreographer* Warren Carlyle; it will focus on Cuban dance and music. Travelcat2 Posted February 20, 2018 #2828 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Beautiful photos! We have never been on NCL (or any other mainstream cruise line) but are looking forward to three day on the Bliss (May 30 - June 2nd). It should be an interesting experience for a luxury cruiser. Can't wait to board!

Where is this double size haven complex?! The floor plan for the Haven area looks almost identical (except changes at the front which has removed rooms) so where are all these extra rooms?! Bootman4U Posted February 20, 2018 #2831 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Booked the 21-night March 2019 PC cruise from LA to NYC yesterday. Cannot wait to see the new locks and be in the newest Haven. Thanks very much for posting the stunning pictures.

bam1957 Posted February 20, 2018 #2833 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I can't wait to see actual pictures of the completed insides, not artist renditions. We sail her in December so I'm sure there will be lots of reviews with pictures before then. But she is definitely a beauty so far.
Alegeeter Posted February 20, 2018 #2834 Share Posted February 20, 2018 These have been around a long time. They are meant for CREW ONLY. And if you ever talk to a crew member after they do a drill using these, you'll find out how much they're hated. Obviously in an emergency situation everyone will be glad they exist but crew always talk about all the bruises they get during drills and how scary it is to jump several stories onto a floating raft. LrgPizza Posted February 20, 2018 #2838 Share Posted February 20, 2018 The Haven sundeck on Bliss is more than double the size of the BA/GA/Escape Haven sundeck... This photo is confusing to me, because on the Escape, the area right outside Vibe is not open to the deck below like this shows.

Isn’t it just the enclosed Haven “roof”?

That "open" is just the glass "dome". The port side of Escape is open to all (below) but on Bliss, both sides are Haven only.

I forgot that just the front part is alongside that dome. Most of it has open public deck outside of it (like where you enter.)

I can't imagine doing that! I hope it is just for the crew. They are all young and could survive that without braking bones. CruisinHarvey Posted February 21, 2018 #2843 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Agree Escape was our best cruise also. Chocolate Cowboy, Bong and Rommel (Vibe) definitely deserve going to Bliss. Will see then Jan 2019 unless they are on vacation. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Just talked to Bong yesterday. He'll joining the Bliss is April. $hip$hape Posted February 22, 2018 #2845 Share Posted February 22, 2018 >>>>> I do know they brought in Julie in the middle of a cruise to take over as CD. Since she's over all the CD's, that's surely not something happens, unless it's an emergency situation. I would like to see Julie again, on our April Inaugural TransAtlantic Crossing. She seems comfortable working with unique sailings and new crews/cruises.

jesters Posted February 22, 2018 #2850 Share Posted February 22, 2018 I received the 3 night meal plan as part of my booking. I bought another plan for around $83 for my grown children. The wording online is not clear. Having paid for the plan upfront, am I responsible for any additional taxes/tipping/service charges or other costs? Or is this all inclusive (cost)? Thank you!
