BaseballMomof4 Posted March 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2017 I have sailed on both NCL and CCL. Just booked my first Royal cruise on the Jewel. We will be sailing out of Rome on the May 30, 2018 Med cruise. What is different/better/worse? Excited and curious!
Desert Cruizers Posted March 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2017 You will be on a Radiance Class, so a lot of windows for viewing the ocean passing by. Radiance Class ships are lovely ships, but doesn't have all the Bells & Whistles of your larger ships. , very easy to get around on. Best lunch location at the back of the WJ ( Buffet area) Full capacity of passengers around 2500. We have sailed her sister ships, the Radiance 4 times, Brilliance and Serenade once. We will be on the serenade this August for our TA. Crew are wonderful in our experience. You will have a wonderful cruise. As far as sail away you get walk up to the helipad from Deck 5 ( Outside Promenade Deck )Just go all the way to the front and up a short flight of stairs and your there. chape19714 Posted March 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2017 Be prepared for some main differences from NCL, such as a more structured dining system (unless you opt for My Time Dining). You'll see a few specialty restaurants, but nowhere near the NCL system. As far this class of ship is concerned, Forward elevators have shorter lines (as they aren't glass like the aft set). Be sure to arrive to shows and entertainment 15 min early, and trivia and other activities at least 10, as they can fill. Windjammer cafe is great, but don't overlook the main dining room that may be open for breakfast or lunch.
