SkiCruiser44 Posted April 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Bonnie, I see on the Monaco Port schedule we won't be tendering into the normal Monaco dock on 5/23/17 but will be tendering into Fontvielle instead. It is away from the actual Monaco area. I realize the change is probably due to the Gran Prix that weekend. Will Azamara be providing shuttles into Monaco from Fontvielle? Thanks very much for your assistance. Kathy
Mrs Miggins Posted April 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2017 We were in Monte Carlo on Quest on May 24th last year. On our previous visits with Azamara we had been docked but on this occasion (I imagine due to the Gran Prix week) we were tendered into Fontvielle. No shuttle bus was provided. We walked up to the town easily and in fact then got on the 100 bus to go to Nice. On our return I did walk around the town which of course was all set up for the Gran Prix with many barriers and hoardings. It was perfectly possible to walk around the casino side of town but of course it didnt look quite it does usually. The area around the Royal Palace, the Cathedral and the Oceonographic Museum is unaffected by the race. Incidentally it was White Night Party that night. It was a great setting. SkiCruiser44 Posted April 6, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Was it easy to catch the 100 Bus to Nice? Could you maybe give me some directions on where you caught the bus? Thanks, Kathy
Mrs Miggins Posted April 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2017 You will probably find someone from the local tourist office onboard on the morning you arrive who will have maps etc. Basically we walked from the tender along the side of the dock, then turned right at the end past the Historic Car Exhibition, then through a shopping centre. The bus stop was at Place d'Armes. You can find details of the route on the Line d'Azur website. The drive on the 100 bus along the Corniche to Nice is really lovely. Some of the buses stop at the Port in Nice but others go on Nice Promenade des Artes. If your bus stops at the Port there will be others to take you into the centre of Nice.
