just got back from the jewel. what a beautiful ship. have likes and dislikes but it was a vacation and you have to love that!

embark was good had a couple flaws but overall it was great. room was wonderful. your butler karan was awesome! took care of everything we needed was always there to help.

not sure if we like the dining options. we liked meeting people at the dinner table and getting to know them. give us some more time to digest everything and i will get back to you on that one.

we did express check out and was great! had an 11am flight out of miami and we were there sitting there before 8:30am. which is okay be me.

any questions and i will try to answer.

And what did you think of them? Did you discover any special perks? Example, I read recently that someone had fresh fruit brought to their room every day. I LOVE that.

Also, what did you think of the public areas? Onboard shopping? Casino? Bars?

We are sailing on the Jewel on Nov. 27th. I think I am going to agree with you regarding Freestyle dining. Although, the first night is a little awkward, we have always had a great time with our table mates. We are going to have to make more of an effort to meet people on our own. Do you want to sit with us?:)

Anyway, do you happen to know if they have ping-pong and/or shuffleboard competitions? Also, do they offer cranberrry juice?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.

Just back from the Jewel also. I'll write a review after unpacking and doing the wash:( . Daybreakbds, sorry we didn't get to meet you, I was looking forward to it.

Yes, cranberry juice is available for breakfast....

We can hardly wait! Just wondering if there is a way to upload our digital pics on the Jewel. Last year on the Golden we uploaded them, which were then saved onto a CD for us, which was great.

Was there a murder mystery night - we heard that the one on the Dawn was great.

Also, any tips on things not to be missed???

Thanks for the info.

daybreakbds: Glad to hear you enjoyed the Jewel. My DH and I had Karan for our butler on the Jewel. Med. cruise. He was great.

Sorry we missed you at the CC meeting on Monday.

pickipickipicki: Glad to hear that the two of you got home ok. It was fun playing trivia with you. Study up on the trivia for your Alaskian cruise. Got to get the NCL give aways. Still talking with the family about where to cruise next.

mafig: Great to meet you. Look forward to your review.

Yes- don't miss the 24 hour soft serve ice cream and cappuccino in the Garden Cafe. I think I ate my body weight in ice cream last week- I put 6 pounds on! (ACK!!)

Cirque Bijou was also great........as well as the Second City show.

Just ask to share a table when you go into the dining room. You can meet new people every night. If/when you find folks you really like, then arrange to meet for subsequent meals, ship's events, shore trips, etc. Works for us every time. Not a big deal at all.

sorry i missed you guys too.:( totally forgot about it until like 3:00. guess we will have to do another cruise. :D

Dorothy- we had 10666 which is an AD romance suite. but they call it a penthouse suite. very much liked the vip treatment. tender tickets, we had something different everyday when we came in: pasty things, cheese and crackers, little sandwich things, my favorite chocolate strawberries, water and champagne for the first day, the robes were wonderful. those are some of things. public areas were okay. casino was okay did not spend to much time in there. i am a non smoker so only small doses for me. about an hour is all i could handle. did not go many bars. hopefully someone can pick that one up.

rpbcouple- the dinner part does make it more difficult to meet people. we did meet one couple and had dinner with them (they were great). had a blast but i don't think the other tables enjoyed us to much. oh well. they do have ping-pong and shuffleboard but not sure if they had competitions.

cruisin0504- i do believe they had the upload to a cd. they also had a special to print your photos for 25 cents (i am pretty sure) have to admit 19.99 for an 8x10 and either 13 or 16 for 5x7 were the prices for pictures.

trying to figure out how to load the pictures of the suite. as soon as i do i will post them. if someone could help that would be great too.

ps whoever has 10666 left a surprise in the bible. hope you can use them or pass them along :D

Enjoyed looking at the pictures of your suite. It looks just like the AE Penthouse on the Jewel that my DH and I were in on the Jewel in August in the Med.

Liked that you took pictures of yourself and your husband. Since you missed that CC meeting I can now put your faces to your names.

Thanks for answering the questions I had. Thanks also for the pictures. I do have another question......Did I actually see a scale under the bathroom sink?? I always put on weight on a cruise, so if that's a scale, I don't know whether to be glad to help me maintain my weight or horrified to watch myself gain weight or not enjoy all the wonderful food because I'll worry too much about the weight gain. I'm torn.

Howdy. Good to hear you had a great time.

I did have one question for you. This is the first I have heard of express check out. What is this and how does it work? I would love to be able to catch a flight in the morning. Thanks.

Daybreakbds...Thanks for the info and the pics on 10666. That'll be our suite for our Wedding/Honeymoon cruise in April, from Miami to Barcelona. The suite looks awesome and what a view!!!! You've got me curious about the surprise now...(or should I be scared? ) Will it even be there still when we board on April 30th?

I have a question regarding the mirror that I saw at the vanity. Was that a make-up magnifying mirror and was that in the suite or did y'all bring it? That's the only thing I really need to know, if I'll have to schlep mine or not.

How was the view from the balcony?? It looks spacious and very relaxing! How was your butler and steward? We're so excited and can't wait until April. Every glowing review makes us feel great about our decision to get married and honeymoon on the Jewel! :)

Thank you to everyone that's posted and Happy Thanksgiving!

well express check out was great. first you keep your luggage and carry it off with you. (you have to be able to manage your own luggage also) the walk you take to get on the ship is the same one to get off. i think they said you could start coming down at 7:15am. we went down at 7am and there were already some people in line. you go to deck 6 starboard side by the casino. as soon as the ship clears customs you go. we actually started getting off the ship as they made the announcement. we were on the western and we were pulling in at 4:45am by about 5:15 we were docked. think it is just one of those things you chance. for all of you with early flights good luck and do the express check out.

the mirror- yes the mirror ncl's. the mirror itself lights up and so does the big one. the little one is okay. if you don't rely on it a great deal it is okay. but if you really really need it i would bring my own.

yes that was a scale. worked out great! we where able to weigh our luggage before we left. we were on the border line with two bags. that was wonderful! not sure why you would put a person on that thing (it's evil) :D

the view is awesome! this was out first aft cabin and we would like to continue to get them. just not sure if we can always afford a suite.

the butler karan is amazing. would love to have him again. there were two stewards- husband and wife. they were also great. the crew on the jewel were just incredible.

as for the surprise- if you find it by april it will be to late.:( congrats on your wedding/honeymoon you will have great room and great people. hope someone will get to enjoy it. :)

Have a question foranyyou just returning. Did you embark the ship at boarding time embarkation day on the promenade or outside on the deck or did you enter the inside of the ship directly? On the Star we entered on the outside promenade deck then went inside the ship from there.

And do you know what time they started boarding the ship? Thanks.

Thanks for the report. My parents are in that exact room in three weeks. What is the surprise? I am so happy to see the lovely room, etc. I think they will really enjoy it. Did you have any problems getting into the restuarants? They have never tried freestyle dining so it will be a learning experience for them.

Also, what kind of perks did you get for the suite? Was it a big difference from the villa rooms, etc? Did you get pre-boarding privledges? Thanks!
