villager70 Posted April 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Hi fellow cruiser: We have been to San Juan well over twenty time but have never eaten lunch in old San Juan. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Have considered Barrichina,s but just want to try local dishes. Will be there in Sept and looking at early around 1130 to 12 as Oasis departs early afternoon. Thanks for any advice. Bob & Nancy The Villages, Florida

leighuf Posted May 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2017 Rosa di Trianna tapas restaurant. You can order a variety of little Puerto Rican dishes and sip some sangria in this quaint little restaurant that was once a jail. It's across from the catedral

It was great.. lunch with tip was around 30.00 for the two of us. You can Google it for the address. We would definitely go there again! Rare Turtles06 Posted May 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 16, 2017 A little over a year ago, we had lunch at Raices based on recommendations I'd read here on CC. We really enjoyed it; the mofongo was delicious! (We then headed over to Barrachinas to have piña coladas :D)

One of us can not walk very far. Are there taxis if necessary?
leighuf Posted May 31, 2017 #12 Share Posted May 31, 2017 how far is this from the cruise port? One of us can not walk very far. Are there taxis if necessary? It's a little bit of a walk from the OSJ port. We do it often but its a bit uphill. Plenty of taxi stands but it may take you longer in a taxi lol! If you are sailing into the other port (Royal Carib etc) then you need a taxi for sure.
fvmvcruise Posted May 31, 2017 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2017 El Jibarito! Don't go there for the atmosphere, but do go for the food. It is full of locals, and the food is unbelievable. Try the trifongo!
