Rare www3traveler Posted May 2, 2017 #77 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Depending on the position, contracts for most staff is either 6 months (middle management) to 8 months (bar staff, wait staff, housekeeping, most deckhands (maintenance) the 2 months vacation. Senior Hotel Management 4 months on 2 months off. Captain, Staff Captain, Chief Engineer- 10 weeks on 10 weeks off. Hours vary per position but in general 10 hour days- split shift 7 days a week. All staff in addition to their job positions, have a Safety Duty and some have an additional job when you embark or debark. Not an easy life for anyone. bbryan5 Posted May 2, 2017 #78 Share Posted May 2, 2017 They aren't being held captive, if they are going to be miserable to us, the PAYING CUSTOMER, they shouldn't be working on a cruise ship. It's pretty simple. That being said, I believe the vast majority of NCL employees are friendly, but for the few that are not, they should look elsewhere for employment.
