JuneauWhatIMean Posted May 5, 2017 #226 Share Posted May 5, 2017 Lovely review, CG. One of the best I've ever read/seen. You are an excellent writer and a true asset to Cruise Critic. Thank you so much for sharing! :D
cervezadrinker Posted May 6, 2017 #227 Share Posted May 6, 2017 I really hope we avoided that whale that surfaced in front of the ship. Sent from outerspace Were you in the bridge viewing area on the 2nd sea day when you saw that? I was there also and saw the whale in the front of the ship. Looked like the officers acknowledged to us they saw the whales. Also saw whales south of Palos Verdes when we just left LA.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #230 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Now my trip really vomes to an end. I just had breakfast at the hotel and am checking out and heading to the skytrain to take it to the airport. It's a short jump to Seattle and then back to Vegas. I had dinner at The Keg last night and then turned in since I was pretty tired and needed to be up early today. Sent from outerspace
keeponcruising Posted May 6, 2017 #231 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Thanks for a great review and I love that you made good use of the UBP. I liked your photos of all the different drinks and the menus. Maybe I'll be able to concoct some of those yummy looking drinks at home;)
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #232 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Vancouver International airport had you go through US customs right here. I was totally expecting to have to go through it once we landed. It was also very efficient, they had you put your passport into a slot on a kiosk, then you filled out the customs form on the screen. It then took a picture of you that printed out on a receipt. You took that, your passport, and boarding pass up to the customs official who took the receipt, scanned your pass, and checked your passport. Quick and easy. Unfortunately YVR does not have much past that. Mostly duty free shopping, a Starbucks, an Orange Julius and there's a combo counter service cafe and newstand here at my gates. Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #233 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Not quite a puddle jumper but it is a smaller plane so first has single then two across. I'm almost matching the seats, too. Sent from outerspace
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #234 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Now this is more like it! Multiple restaurants all serving local and other brews on tap. I'm starting with the Levenwoth Whistling Pig Hefeweizen with my fish and chips at Anthony's. Sent from outerspace

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #237 Share Posted May 6, 2017 The cod fish and chips was nothing to write home about, especially after the delight of the Pier 23 dish. The beers are good, though. Time for a Pike Brewing Naughty Nellie Golden Artisan Ale. Sent from outerspace
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted May 6, 2017 Author #238 Share Posted May 6, 2017 They'll be boarding soon so this is as good a time as any to officially end the live thread. Thanks for following along with me! I had a lot of fun and hope you enjoyed the ride as well. Sent from outerspace
fshagan Posted May 6, 2017 #239 Share Posted May 6, 2017 So, Luis, the group coordinator; not impressed. I did get a letter confirming our time and date along with a call from him on the same. I do not remember his call asking me to call him back nor did the letter say to do that otherwise I woild have. I get to Le Bistro at about 10:30 so that I can put out my pre-made name badges and also to help out with anything. The doors are open, there's no "private function" sign, and no one is around although the drinks and pastries are set up. I'm waiting there holding people from coming in since I know they'll have a sign in sheet and blank name badges but by 10 to there's still no one there except for the set up people so I just let everyone in. A few minutes later he finally shows up and gets all pissy with me because people are in there and he has his sign in sheets. Some of the cruisers say the doors were wide open and he blames me for nothing be set up in front because I didn't call him back. Said that a couple of times too, and attitude was definitely noticed by the people there. He goes up front and closes the doors so he can have people sign in and the people inside go about signing in and making name tags. The rest went well, the officers made their introductions and I had just enough goody bags since 10 of them were there. Sent from outerspace From what I heard from my wife, I think you have a great attitude and are going easy on him. I heard from several people this guy is in the wrong business entirely, and should be excluded from any passenger contact. The most polite description of him was that he was a complete jerk to you. You did a great job organizing the M&G and Cabin Crawl, including bringing gifts for the officers, arranging things in spite of Luis the Jerk, sending postcard reminders and a voice mail to those showing their cabins for the cabin crawl and I'm sure about a dozen other things you took care of for us! Thank you again for that! Except ... did you have to include my lost wedding ring thing? I was going to deny that ever happened but now my wife has evidence! gwsster Posted May 7, 2017 #241 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Coffee Goddess, you were a GREAT coordinator and a pleasure to meet. I loved getting the cabin crawl reminder card on our door. I had a great time with the CC group. You did a fantastic job and I thank you VERY much. Picked up some photo paper to make cabin crawl reminders while I was out and about. I was going to do post cards but this was on sale and I can send some pictures to my mom. Sent from outerspace
gwsster Posted May 7, 2017 #242 Share Posted May 7, 2017 I don't know who the guy was, but his attitude and behaviors should have been checked at the door. I was taken aback at his manner to you in front of several CC members. Wow. Meet and greet getting started with the pissiest group planner ever. gwsster Posted May 7, 2017 #243 Share Posted May 7, 2017 He was out of line...Doors were open, you had your name tags out and everything was set up. The only thing missing was the ships sign in sheet. If he had never showed up the meeting would have happened because of you Coffee Goddess. His failure to show up on time was not your responsibility. So, Luis, the group coordinator; not impressed. I did get a letter confirming our time and date along with a call from him on the same. gwsster Posted May 7, 2017 #244 Share Posted May 7, 2017 LOL! I can't believe you caught our wedding ring scavenger search. My rings were loose too, but I didn't loose mine. We found DH's ring under our neighbor cruisers table. I was so tickled that about 10 people joined in the search and the young lady that found the ring raised the ring in her hand above her head and shouted "I FOUND IT!" Apple Pie ala mode and the great dropped wedding ring search at the table across from me came to a happy conclusion with ring found and applause all around. gwsster Posted May 7, 2017 #245 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Holy smoke, I have been on many NCL cruises and I have never seen this vending machine. Kirsten, You are a great blogger and I can't believe the great detail you have provided along with photo's Jan If you need any emergency pain relief or prophylactic they have a vending machine right outside the port restrooms on 6 between the casino and the theatre.
