sallybrown2012 Posted May 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2017 I just posted a similar question - I don't have any info for you, as I've never sailed on Carnival before, but I'd love to hear from you after your cruise. We cruise on July 3/leaving our house June 30. Can't wait!
jayscore Posted May 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2017 Be sure to find the "secret doors" all the way forward on decks 9, 7,6.
Mary49 Posted May 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Make sure you stop and see the Band "Music Boardwalk" that play by the casino. Excellent Band.
Miata Posted May 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2017 The only reason we took this cruise recently was to listen to Liz and Lucas play. We saw them play a year ago and we were very impressed. They generally play in the Venezia lounge. Lucas sings, plays the guitar and drums all at the same time. Once in the Venezia, very few people left while they were playing. Be sure to check them out the first night and then you can make your judgment on how good they are.
vital1 Posted May 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2017 Here are a few things we enjoy: If you've never sailed from New Orleans you MUST be outside during sailaway so you can watch how they turn the ship around and see how the river is above the little towns down river. On the way back, you should be on deck when we get close to the mouth of the river so you can see how close we come to the oil rigs. If you've never seen how the Gulf waters mix with the muddy Mississippi River water that's pretty cool to see also. It's also a sight to see the sun rising on the river and city of New Orleans the day we return. It sucks to see it because vacation is over, but oh what a sight it is!! Sitting and people watching outside the Casino Bar on Elegant Night. The photographers are set up all along the Promanade and the outfits range from gorgeous to interesting ;p We also enjoy trying the Taste bar before supper. It has samples of things restaurants offer. Watching the drunks return from a day in Cozumel is FANTASTIC!! The pier runners are the BEST! I have to admit we've been some of the drunks, but we've never had to run :halo: Karaoke night is fun to watch. We also do the martini tasting at the Alchemy Bar. You get a sheet of paper with names of drinks on it. Then you get drinks and try to match the drink with the name. Be prepared to walk away tipsy, though. We usually get a lounger on the top deck by the pool so we can watch the contests from above. The breeze is better up there also. Guys burgers.....i get a plate of mushrooms and pickles. Blue Iguana breakfast burritos. Most people are at the buffet or omelette station, but they are missing out on the Blue Iguana breakfast. Wait, maybe we should keep that a secret. You can do as much or as little as you want. Don't try to do it all in one cruise because you'll never get a chance to relax! I just signed up for your roll call so if you have any more questions feel free to ask either here or there.
2lilharts Posted May 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 27, 2017 Try the Sea Day brunch in the Paris dining room. No standing in line for an omelet! The filet mignon was pretty good, too.
swscruiser Posted May 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2017 Go to the Atrium Bar in the evening and have Theresa make you the drink of your choice. She may be the best bartender on Carnival. She makes a great drink and is one of the most nice and genuine people we have ever met. Tell her Keith & Shelley say Hi. FYI we were not having a great first day on our last cruise and we ran into her in the evening and the rest of our cruise was awesome!

vital1 Posted June 6, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 6, 2017 About how long does it take from the time you leave to the time you get to the mouth of the river? You usually get to the mouth around midnight. So about 8 hours. Since we leave on a Saturday we'll more than likely meet the Dream somewhere down river on their way back. When I was on the Elation we met the Conquest in the river. Nothing like changing clothes with your curtains open and looking out the window at people on their balconies;p

They also had a nice group of people who stayed and enjoyed them as well.
