Computer Nerd Posted May 31, 2017 #203 Share Posted May 31, 2017 I'm a decent person and I like a lot of rap - even some with bad words. I also like a lot of movies with bad words. And death metal with bad words. And country music with bad words. Not _because_ of the bad words but because bad words aren't going to hurt anyone - even precious little ears - but throwing someone overboard will possibly kill someone. Isn't that a bit of an overreaction? Just as an FYI, there is a huge difference between you voluntarily viewing those types of things and being forcefully subjected to them against your will. Just thought you might like to know.
Cinders411 Posted May 31, 2017 #204 Share Posted May 31, 2017 This is certainly not the worst, but without a doubt the craziest. I was on a cruise a while back, not sure which one, but it was just nuts. Insane. People put their towels down on chairs when they were swimming, but when they left the area they took their towels with them, so others could use the chair. Men would get up and give their seats to women or elderly people who were standing. Nobody wore shorts or t-shirts in the MDR. People were respectful and considerate of the other passengers, nobody acted like it was just their vacation and the hell with everybody else. It was truly surreal. Are you sure it was a Carnival cruise? :'):'):'):')

originalgeek Posted May 31, 2017 #206 Share Posted May 31, 2017 There was a winky emoji and a "funny" statement at the end of my post. I would not throw someone overboard :) From original post: "...Then CC would be writing about me in this thread " Yessir! I see and appreciate that. I don't think the person I was replying to thought it should be a joke though - he seemed ready to (on-line) fight folks who thought we _shouldn't_ throw rappers overboard. (..."If you think the other poster was wrong about wanting to throw the punk overboard you've got another thing coming"...) Just as an FYI, there is a huge difference between you voluntarily viewing those types of things and being forcefully subjected to them against your will. Just thought you might like to know. Yessir to you too. I don't dispute that there is a time and place for everything. I was more addressing the implication that rap is not a craft and that "decent" people should think of it and rappers as trash. (..."What you consider "a craft" is what most decent people consider rude talentless loud mouth pieces of trash."...) If I ever encounter a potty mouth rapper on a tender I will either listen or ignore but either way it's not hurting me in any demonstrable way. I enjoy experiencing other cultures but I can understand a family in the next seat over being uncomfortable with it. I think generally a polite request to refrain is all that is needed. CarnivalCruiser875 Posted June 1, 2017 #209 Share Posted June 1, 2017 A couple bragging about all their expensive things asked us if we wanted to join them back in their cabin. We have dealt with something like this before. Backstory: We were on our 3rd cruise with CCL and our ocean view room had problems with the lights (sometimes turned on, sometimes turned off, flickered 24/7), an odd clicking/banging noise 24/7, and other various little problems. We went to guest relations and they apologized profusely and ended up putting us in a balcony that same night for the rest of the cruise. We were very thankful! That was the end of that. Story: We were seated with another 3 person group in the MDR which included a 16 year old that said a total of 2 words the whole trip, an excessively loud wife....and like the post before said, an obnoxious, "showy" husband (we'll call him Guy). He made it clear he made a lot of money (come to find out he's a painter for residential homes, no shame there, we too work in the blue collar industry), repeated multiple times he was a Diamond Member, knew all these "big names" in the CCL Industry, told us about his expensive cufflinks he wore, gets special meals because he's "such an elite member"...you get the idea. On the second night, the Maitre'D came to our table asking for my father, saying "we heard about your room issues the other night so here's a bottle of wine on us". We said that wouldn't be necessary, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. Just another way Carnival showed us they care about their customers. Guy said nothing for the rest of the night. The next night, the Maitre'D brought chocolate covered strawberries for our family, again we declined but thanked them for the customer service, and again they would not take no. Guy's eyes got SO big and stopped bragging after that night! We joke that Carnival knew about Guy's showy attitude the whole time! :') Sometimes you wonder why people have to brag? We're just there to have fun!
Fireman9302 Posted June 1, 2017 #210 Share Posted June 1, 2017 While on the Triumph last year on the last night I woke up very early 3am or 4...I couldn't sleep So I thought I'd go out want watch us go up the Mississippi. I got a cup of coffee and walked around the outside if the ship...up to deck 11 I believe. So I found me a seat and was watching the views when so heard a bunch of hooting and hollering...i walked over to the other side when i seen a group of about 7 teenagers throwing the beanbags from the cornhole game at passing barges.. I told them to stop and got an officer on the Lido deck to report the little punks .
Keys2Heaven Posted June 1, 2017 #211 Share Posted June 1, 2017 This exact same thing happened to us sailing out of San Juan in September a few years ago. After that experience, we (a group of 35) agreed to never sail out of SJ. It was horrible! They literally took over the ship, five generation families and the worst was how rude they were rude they were. And the strollers!!!:mad::mad: Every family had multiple strollers on board and they would push their way through with the stroller. I lost count of how many times our ankles were banged. That was before we knew about price drops. We paid a premium for the cruise and I know we should have gotten on board credits. Yeah, it was definitely a Puerto Rican cruise on that sailing. Some of the folks we met were extremely nice and we enjoyed many conversations (as much as we could) with them. Other, like you mentioned, made it a habit of being rude and inconsiderate at every opportunity. We don't mind sailing out of SJ, but will never pick the discounted part of the year again if we do. Keys2Heaven Posted June 1, 2017 #212 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Yessir to you too. I don't dispute that there is a time and place for everything. I was more addressing the implication that rap is not a craft and that "decent" people should think of it and rappers as trash. (..."What you consider "a craft" is what most decent people consider rude talentless loud mouth pieces of trash."...) I agree with you to a point. When I was younger, "rap" was sing song and very clean. In fact, part of the schtick in those songs was rapping and then NOT saying the bad word that everyone listening to the song was filling in inside their brain. It was humorous that way. Somewhere down the line, the gangsta version become the norm and is what most people think of when thinking of "rap" music. Yes, throwing f-bombs and other horrible words around hardly makes is a craft, but the old-school rap was, in my opinion, very much a craft. It's just been perverted....like most things in media nowadays.
Habanaro64 Posted June 2, 2017 #213 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Someone undressing and dressing at the pool area This tends to be a European thing. We have seen it several times on a ship and/or at the beach. Keep in mind that Americans tend to be prudish when it comes to nudity, Europeans not so much. utopiagal Posted June 2, 2017 #214 Share Posted June 2, 2017 I saw a very large group... sit in the lido buffet area every morning. The women in this group stole so many pastries, croissants; and boxes of cereal...packing them away in gallon ziplock bags and stuffing them in their oversized bags. I saw this going on 3 mornings. I knew they saw me staring in disbelief. I guess they liked them so much they wanted a 2 month supply when they got home!

Food is included... and no where does it list you can not take more than you can eat at one sitting. Now if they tried to take it home, and US Customs found it, they would get fined ALOT of money... Now if they tried to take it home, and US Customs found it, they would get fined ALOT of money... You're not going to get fined for cereal and pastry. It's things like plants and fruits you're not allowed to bring on or take off the ship due to risk of introducing foreign bugs, etc. To the OP, it's likely they were taking them off the boat for excursions or beach day snacks for them or their kids to save $. I've known people that would grab an extra box of cereal and throw it in their beach bag for a beach snack later. But never loading up ziplock baggies of pastries. :o

HighCPU Posted June 3, 2017 #221 Share Posted June 3, 2017 On Imagination last month my gf saw someone stealing a stack of photos. She just slipped in her purse and walked right into the casino. My gf tried to notify the workers, but she was GONE. We spent like 60-70 bucks on pictures so we were in shock to see someone just take them. SLCruisers Posted June 3, 2017 #222 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I've known people that would grab an extra box of cereal and throw it in their beach bag for a beach snack later. The boxes of cereal have certainly saved me! We went on a snorkeling with whale sharks Carnival excursion when it was new. It was a very long day and only served food when we were while driving to Cancun. The cereal is only thing I had to eat when we were waiting on the ferry to get back to Cozumel! I make sure to take something with me on every excursion now - prepackaged items, of course.
