grapau27 Posted June 21, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 21, 2017 LOL now that's really funny!:D We always take our own toiletries which we know and like because in the past we have had allergic reactions to ship and hotel toiletries.
purescottish Posted June 21, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 21, 2017 We always take our own too, adds a lot of weight to the suitcase but at least we have peace of mind not being allergic to what we know :-)
Kmangel Posted June 21, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 21, 2017 On my last cruise I hated the fragrance of the shampoo/body lotion they provided, though the brand was a good one. I now am bringing my own.
kateg Posted June 21, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Thank you TravelPeon! I always thought there was something not-quite-right about the "luxury" brand "amenities" my husband brings home from his travels. Often they just don't perform well and they never seemed to be the same as the big bottle (at least the ones I was familiar with).
critterchick Posted June 21, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Yes, IF and it's a big IF, they give you upgraded amenities, you will get separate containers of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash. Getting the advertised perk for the elevated C&A level is hit or miss. They are rarely in the cabin ( unless we are in a suite) , so if we want them, we simply ask. Often the room attendants looks at us as if we are speaking Klingon. We have to explain why we are supposed to get them, they always say "I will try", and we usually receive them by the second day. We sometime get the Gilchrest and Soames and sometimes get a more generic brand. M ps - my pet peeve is having to ask ( beg) for the benefits RCCL advertises they will provide to me. m We have always gotten the upgraded amenities (sometimes we have to ask for them, but they always arrive and we don't need a translator), but the scent of the G&S changed a few years ago and I dislike it. I bring my own - two ounces of each last me up to 21 days. DH brings his own now, too. It's a small thing but makes a big difference to me. I think that the stateroom attendants are instructed to wait until we ask in the hopes that we won't. Fat chance here.

time4u2go Posted June 21, 2017 #32 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I don't think I have ever cared. My wife OTOH, always brings her own. Bars of soap...liquid soap, the whole nine yards. Same here. As long as it gets me (and my hair) clean, I really don't care. I actually like the ship stuff because the smell of it reminds me I'm on a cruise! sammee Posted June 22, 2017 #33 Share Posted June 22, 2017 I actually discovered the G&C lineup from a B&B in South Carolina. I loved the oatmeal soap, and their shampoo & cond.. I now order from them (when they have a sale) I always bring my G&C with me on my cruises.
