muffy6445 Posted June 6, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 6, 2017 I bribed our 11 yr old with escargot. He was having trouble behaving, so I told him he wouldn't get his escargot if he didn't smarten up. He's now 19 and remembers that cruise and still loves escargot. He was excited to see it on the menus I was showing him for our upcoming Alaska cruise. It's a great time to get kids to venture outside the kid food realm. So many options and no problem if they don't like it. Just order something else! aquanaut1 Posted June 6, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 6, 2017 It sounds like there's a thin line between making the MDR a positive experience for kids and helping parents push children out of their culinary comfort zone. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Forums mobile app Pushing children out of their culinary comfort zone I regard as a good thing .... they won't know they like it till they try it !! pirategirl007 Posted June 7, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 7, 2017 That sounds time a brilliant idea , it really should be more varied . We told our kids last night that this year we will have a points system ( as one is s fussy eater !) On the ship this year , one point for trying something new , five points for eating a new starter , main or buffet dish , and ten points for being really adventurous . The kids are totally up for that ! Sent from my iPhone using Forums Excellent idea! We were going with try one new thing per day but I may introduce this point system to our 12 and 15 year old. Been trying to fix their McDonalds palette for years now.

Been trying to fix their McDonalds palette for years now. Ha ha ! We are taking a magnetic 'boogie board' to keep score and stick to cabin wall ! I think a cruise is a fabulous opportunity to take your children out of their comfort zone !!! Not a nugget shall pass her lips for two weeks !!!
